I'm doing some offline stuff and putting flyers on cars in parking lots would be really efficient but I've been reading posts about this on WF and people have said they got calls from the police and fines sent to them. Thing is I don't understand how they find out how to contact them in the first place, if I just have a domain on my flyer can they track me down from there?

You are fine unless your flyers are annoying/obscene.

I have seen stories about this before but they were fined because the businesses were local. If this is strictly a online business then just make sure your domain info is private so it's much harder for them to track them down.

it can make a mess in the parking lot though which would piss off the owner.

Thanks, how can I make it private?

I used to own a drive in cinema and my favourite way of promoting it was going to the multiplex cinemas and sticking a flyer on all the cars in the carpark.

I figured that they were my target market - they liked movies and owned a car.

I never had any dramas with this, although I was always waiting for a nasty phone call. I planned to blame the 14 year old kid that I paid to stick them in letterboxes if that ever happened

Not sure what to make of that comment. Could you explain it a bit more?
