Has this happened to anyone before?

I registered for a forum in my niche and picked a username that was a bit peculiar but nothing offensive or questionable. I also picked an icon for that username, a family friendly stock photo. I didn't create a signature or drop my homepage's link in my profile yet and proceeded to answer a few threads from other members asking for help. I replied to maybe 2 of these threads and before I could even receive any response to my posts, I was immediately banned. There was no explanation or warning. This all happened within maybe 10 minutes of registering. And keep in mind I didn't spam or even post any links.

The only possible explanation I could come up with is that either they seem to hate me on sight or they have a very sharp 6th sense.

It could be something simple as not following the forum rules.

Nope, never registered there before and never used that username before either.. just a new forum I discovered by googling. And I had to get on my mobile phone (for a different IP) to go back onto the forum and read the rules again. Nope, no blatant violations that I could see there. They even detailed a system for giving out warnings, suspending users, etc. before banning them for good but I never got any warning to begin with.

Oh well, there are plenty of other forums in this niche.

No to both. In fact, the last time I was banned from a forum was almost a decade ago, not for spamming but for some stupid things that I did deserve to be banned for but that's a story for another day.

well, you don't necessarily need to be the one who was banned before with that ip, maybe you got an ip from a pool which was abused, however i think in that case, you would have been banned right after the acc creation or maybe blocked even before that

maybe do what people do here sometimes, make another account and start a thread asking what caused your ban, because to your best knowledge, you didn't violate any rules
