I get over a dozen emails a day that read like:

"hello sir have seen much quality site of yours "xxxxxx" and very much would like guest post. i no charge for free this for you. plz reply me"

lol...honestly, I feel like it is more trouble then it is worth...you will have to weed through so much crap littered with crap links

(note: the above quote is an ACTUAL email I received yesterday lol)

Yeah, guest posts requested like the one above, I wouldn't even think about it. I have however allowed many guest posts from sites in my broader niche. Make sure you check their site first. Check their backlinks/content to make sure it's a quality site that you'll be linking out to.

Thanks for the info guys. All of the guest posts I've gotten are actually really relevant to my niche. Professional grade stuff, people with products, legit businesses, etc. It's a branded site and I have a few filters before they can contact me. Some of these people even attach their PDF's, information, provide their work history, etc.

Only reason I'm sort of not sure what to do is, I really don't understand guest posts.. They write original content and in exchange I post it on my site with their link in it.. Is that really all there is too it? For a legit branded site like my own that I value a ton, is it worth it?

I have one of the best people in one niche industry letting me use his content. It's copied from his site with permission and I link back to him with an affiliate link too, so it's a plus plus. Have my own 90% original content too, Just not sure about the whole Guest post deal. Any negatives to having their out going link on my site if they have a quality site?

For now I've just been doing this: Telling them to send me the product, I'll review it myself, and give it away on my site.

If I have unique contents I would like to guest post at your website rather than posting at web 2.0 sites which are heavily spammed with duplicate contents.

That is just a Hilarious Request for guest posting. thanks for sharing @weruncompanies .
Guest Posting is best for Blog/Site owners who cannot readily take time out to produce their own content and for those who have a steady stream of traffic that is hungry for information related to their niche.

Its a Barter system you get something you give something.

For a quality article i would be more than happy to relate / direct my visitor by allowing a OBL in the author section of the article, i would just make sure that it doesn't lead to a dodgy site or a competitor's website.

Maybe you can tell them that you must pre-approve whatever they want to post first before they can post it?

Guest posts aren't always bad. Got to look for unique content and the site you're linking to. If both are good, free content.
