Dozens of these trials are conducted daily worldwide, and you hear of ONE that goes wrong. Saying you shouldn't do them because of that is like saying you should never cross roads for fear of being run over.
In most of the trials you won't actually be checking for desired effects of the drug anyway. Say you have drug X which treats something or other BUT has also been shown to increase blood pressure, you'll take small dosages of the stuff and they'll measure your blood pressure every few hours.
and alos, you would be doing a good thing. Like if no one would do testing, then we would never get any good drugs..
