Get first ranking with .info

Is it possible to get good ranking with .info domains or does Google give more preference to .com?

So instead of registering a .Info I should just go ahead and buy a .COM that someone has parked and is selling to rank high in that keyword?

.info is actually sacked by google, as it was available at low prices and all the low quality professionals, noob's or even professionals were using it for experimental purpose and did not did anything of good quality actually, So major search engines have sacked this TLD, even though some .info get rankings but they have good info in them and also also they have age., so the work in .info is more compared to .com so if u are particular on rankings then go for .com

In the worst case, if you have no money at all, then you can get free domains at d0t.tk..

Co.cc can also be an alternative for free domains.

Infos are considered spdomains nowadays as I read somewhere 74% of infos were used to spam.

I thought the extensions were all equally viewed by search engines? but .coms are more brand-able etc..

It is definately possible to get high rankings. Search Google forWatch Project Runway. The #5 result (today) is mine, a .info. It has been up to #2 right behind bravo.com.

Just make sure you have some good links from quality sites with your keyword as the anchor text. And, I dont know if it makes a difference or not, but install Google Analytics, I think they give you some love for it (maybe not).

If you are paying full price, go for the .com domains. If you see a sale for $0.99 and $1.99, grab some of the .info's....especially for some of the tactics you read on BHW. At least you know you will make back the money it cost you to register the name

Ok thanks for the advice everyone! I'll just get the .COM and the .info as well. Well .info is the only TLD left for this one domain I'm purchasing so I'll also try my luck with that.

wish i had seen this last week.. i bought 1 year hosting with site5 for $120...

try Max3 Max5 Max7 if not then coupons expired ill look around and if I find something ill let you know

I disagree, some .info do rank higher.

I didn't know there was racism when it comes to domain extensions j/k

.INFO can rank higher, but generally it doesn't. I don't think its so much because of that it's .INFO but more because people that use .INFO tend to be cheap because they can afford .COMs or the good .COMs are taken.

Makes sense. Nice good logical observation.

i do not think extensions really matter.
i have a .info that ranks 1st page for many high competition phrases using backlink spamming.
