Im thinking of getting a German Shepard dog. They seem like something a Blackhatter would have to guard all his nice possessions :D.

    They are these: [IMG]

Anyone had any experience with these? Do they attack your friends when they come over? Are they obedient? Follow their master? Aren't a danger to their owner?

Depends on how the dog is raised, what training it has, etc. Some dogs are just plain mean anyway.

    Time...Time is on my side..
Lots of ppl like this dog, my experience with them its very friendly. Other side they are very good for object guarding, and very smart dogs. Used to be trained to find drug etc, but all depends on how you train them

I've had many different breed of dogs, and one of them was a trained German Shepard that we used to have. He was purchased trained at 1 year old or so. No matter how much good stuff I tell you about him its not enough. They are loyal, caring, loving dogs. Just make sure you buy a properly trained one.

Socialize it well and treat it good and you will have no problems. Socialize it with Both humans and Dogs. I have turned fighting pits into lovers, as well as an abused German Shepard. If your not the type to spend a lot of time with an animal and treat it better than you treat yourself, then don't even bother getting one. It will end up being more work than it is worth and you will have nothing but problems.

If you are an animal lover, and have a few extra hrs a day to allocate toward a dog, I would go for it. These are very smart dogs.

You know, I owned a German Shepard several few years back. I bought her at 6 or 8 weeks, and she was the craziest dog I ever owned in my life. We tried everything to train her, and could never break her.

This dog was supremely over protective. Even as a puppy she was trying to dominate full grown dogs in my neighborhood, when I took her out. She literally would bark an entire night long, just for the hell of it. We had the cops called on us numerous times, because of her.

She couldn't stand other dogs, and was hell bent on fighting anything that would square off with her. In other words she was shit crazy, and hated other people almost as bad as she hated other dogs.

Eventually we had to give her up, to a good owner that lived on a few acres. He told us that she ate a few meals, and then he never saw her again.

Fair warning, these dogs can be very stubborn, but remember they are a very intelligent breed, and thrive in working situations.

In the right hands, and with the right training they will lay down their lives for you and your family.

    Good Luck.
