SEO is slowly losing its dominance. Welcome to GEO. In the age of ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Claude, Generative Engine Optimization is positioned to become the new playbook for brand visibility. It's not about gaming the algorithm it's about being cited by it. The brands that win in GEO won't just appear in AI responses. They'll shape them.

is anyone doing GEO here?

Absolutely, we’ve started optimizing for GEO, focusing on high-authority citations, expert content, and AI-friendly structure. It’s the next frontier for brand visibility in AI-driven search.

Hi Einder
Do you have any advice or tips on how to do it right? Please share some insights on it.
There is much to learn and master, like AIO, AEO, and GEO.

GEO is the new game it's not just about showing up in search, but being the source AI pulls answers from. Time to focus on getting mentioned by AI, not just ranking on Google.

Luckily the majority of AI generated content so far is pretty easily detectable if you know what to look out for, I often LOL when I see people posting seemingly “organically written” content on forums and everyone’s drooling over it while it’s clearly AIs work.

GEO is emerging as the new standard for visibility in the era of AI . Instead of manipulating search algorithms, the focus shifts to earning citations, brands that influence AI outputs, not just appear in them, will lead the game.

The biggest change would be the SERP for keywords, In the AEO era, all these tasks are gone.

In AEO keyword research, you only need to find keywords that trigger AIO (AI Overview) and then write your articles around these keywords.

What are AIO Keywords?

We can call them Keywords, or we can call them sentences. The key feature of AEO keywords is that they are long phrases, and AIO keywords are those that trigger AIO overviews.

For example, when we search for “AIO Keywords Meaning,” it triggers an AIO overview.

Keywords that don’t trigger AIO are called SEO keywords.

Currently, compared to SEO keywords, AIO keywords are still a minority. Traditional SEO keywords account for 70% of all search keywords.

But it will not happen in the future.

Do you guys use any tools to increase visibility on answer engines?

That’s a powerful insight. Totally agree—visibility is evolving from keyword tactics to knowledge authority. The future belongs to brands that contribute real value and become part of the AI training data itself.

I send my websites for crawling by ChatGPT , Gemini, Qwen etc... and tell them to mention for future searches but I have no clue if it helps. I do have visitors from ChatGPT and Perplexity though

GEO is SEO but with different priorities. Links are NOT that important if at all but your brand mentioned with context and / or listicles are very much important.

GEO isn’t really replacing SEO, more like evolving alongside it. SEO basics (tech health, backlinks, content) still matter, but GEO is about how LLMs like ChatGPT or Perplexity cite and synthesize info.
If your content is quotable, fact-based, and structured (schema, FAQs, data-rich), you increase chances of being cited in AI answers. Think of it as shaping responses, not just rankings.
It’s early days, but definitely worth experimenting with.

You’re absolutely right SEO is becoming less about “tricking” the algorithm and more about engaging with AI in a way that positions a brand as an authoritative source of information. The new wave of Generative Engine Optimization (GEO) isn’t just about showing up in search results, but about being a part of the foundational data that drives the AI’s responses.

GEO is certainly the "frontier" of digital marketing in 2025, and many members are already experimenting with it under the labels of LLM Optimization (LLMO) or Answer Engine Optimization (AEO). The shift from "ranking for clicks" to "optimizing for citations" requires a total rewrite of our content structure—moving away from long intros toward "Answer-First" formatting that AI agents can easily scrape.
