    Good morning/evening, it's quite late where I'm at now but I'm a night-owl. :D

So I'll cut to the chase here...

I've been playing a mobile game for a few years, while it's not quite as big as "Clash of Clans", the game does have a player base exceeding 10M players (Across all platforms) and it's been released for I believe 5 years.

A few months ago, I started an InstaGram account where I showcase photos and progress from my gaming account with my followers and it has grown quite quickly. At the moment, I have around 5K organic/natural followers with an average of 200-300 likes per picture. Each upload receives an average 35-50 comments with my most commented photo having 121 comments (Very active followers).

I believe the engagement is high because all of my posts are relevant to my page/followers and because I engage with my follower base. My engagement comes from responding to comments and predominantly by asking questions in the "first" comment when I upload a picture.

So, two days ago, I downloaded the LINE app and started a group where users who play this game can converse with others. I made an upload on my IG page notifying my followers of this new group dedicated to the game and within just a couple of hours had 40 users join.

I made a post in the group asking if they'd like me to launch a forum for the game and immediately had great responses from almost all members saying that they'd join. Naturally, by having a group on LINE, I have no control over my users/traffic nor am I capable of monetizing the group. It's essential at this point to move my users to my "own" platform so I can effectively milk this little operation... Haha

So... a while ago I purchased vBulletin for a project that I ended up not seeing through for a variety of reasons (I'll save that story for another day). I figured, instead of letting my vBulletin license lay around, I mind as well put it to good use instead of wasting the $300 I had spent on it (I believe that's what it costed).

Before investing any resources in to this, my concerns primarily lie in the opportunities to monetize this niche. I believe the hard part is out of the way as I know I'll already have traffic, sign-ups and users but that alone doesn't put $ in my pocket.

I'm sure within a months times, I could easily have around 250 "active" users on the forum. Keep in mind that probably 60%-70% of these users would probably be in the age group of 14-18 years old due to the fact that it's a gaming forum (This forum will only be for this specific game).

I appreciate any advice that you guys can give me, thanks for taking the time to read this!

While it's not in direct relation to starting a forum, I forgot to mention that I've done "one" give away on my InstaGram page. This was back on March 7th. Keep in mind that since this time, my followers have nearly tripled. I received a total of 53 entries from just this one giveaway and I collected the first name, email address and their InstaGram profile name. Keep in mind that on my giveaway post, I specified that the winner would be contacted through email and "not" InstaGram so we can be sure that all of the emails that were submitted were 100% legitimate.

I'm sure there's a way to monetize this. I've built a good reputation and re pore with my followers and they'll click anything I post...

Posted a new giveaway on my page an hour ago and look at the activity already (Posted form URL in my IG bio):

What do you think of requiring users to complete an offer before being able to submit their entry?

I think having users complete an offer definitely will drive up your income, but I think it only makes sense when you've got 100s of people completing the surveys :) I don't think it makes much sense if only 20-30 people submit!

5000K is not that many, so you need to keep working to account and 250 active members is also not a very busy forum, but you could still try to make some money off of it. If I were you, I would go with online gaming CPA offers, especially with the giveaway surveys as you mention and maybe some display advertising. You should also see if you can get the forum to rank - the best thing about forums is the free content that your users will be providing for your site. If you want to rank for a particular keyword, you should start a controversial topic about it and let the people organically create your content to rank directly in the thread.

I think your project has potential as long as you are willing and able to keep working on it.

The members of your forum have probably high engagement so this is a strenght you should use. You can use CPI methods and try to get the users download gaming apps. For instance a permanent post on the forum where you present your top-3 gaming apps of the week or so, with the tracking link to download the app. Just my 2 cents ;)
