I just made new website but I'm completely stuck on how to get it known and relevant. I tried adwords but It really doesn't seem to get people to register. Just seems like I'm paying for pointless clicks. Whats the best ways to SEO? Are there any automated SEO programs or companies that will rank my website for me?

I'm literally just starting / learning SEO. So no I have not. I use wordpress/buddypress is there a plugin that will help me do "on-site" SEO?

Forum marketing does wonders if promoted right in your targeted niche. Try to go this way.

I was thinking of doing this, but there only seems to be a few forums in my niche (maybe 20 tops) and If I did post in them wont people just say its spam?

Well, SEO is to a larege extent about trial and error, so there is actually no best way to do it, just read Google guidelines and go ahead :)
Start with keyword research and competitor research. Find out where your competitors got their backlinks from, what sources are they using to rank, what are the main players in your niche etc.
Then make sure that your on-page optimization is perfect, which is about having keywords in strategic page elements, fixing all code and structure errors and above all - compelling content.
And then, based on competitor research, elaborate your own backlink strategy and come up with the right balance of different techniques - article marketing, blogging, forums and comments and so on. Other than that, social media strategy matters a lot, both for traffic and SEO.

Depends on how you deliver the backlink. Most viable method I've seen is the "Ask & Answer" method, where you register for a forum, ask a question and then have another account on the same forum answer the question with a link to your money site.

You just need to make sure to add unqiue and optimized content to your website regularly and check out the SEO services mentioned in the BST section, they would help you in improving your rankings.

Make your website useful to users. Ask yourself questions like why would a user want to use my site and share it with their friends. SEO is great and all, but if your website isn't useful then you will struggle. After you get that part hashed out start your seo campaign and marketing.
