    H there,

this is my most heavy SEO problem I have and I am working since 2 years on it and now I decided to ask you for help.
I have an white hat ecommerce with very exclusive products. There is nearly no competition expect one other online shop that focuses on exact the same brand. His domain is 10 years old ours five. He did only white hat things and I know from an ex employee that the links he built have been always just to homepage. We both get deeplinks in a natural way from communities and so on but his business name has more reputation since he is longer in business as we.
Now everytime we buy a new brand and publish it, he is first and we are second. I hate it to be always the second.

Any advice how to overcome his massive authority?

Im in the same boat. The niche Im competing in my main competetor has links from NYT and adsense.blogspot!! I believe this might help you some I could be wrong thou. Heres what im doing.

Go to your favorite domain dropping site. Mine is http://www.expireddomains.net/

Here is a link to how to find old domains and the such. http://www.blackhatworld.com/blackh...gh-google-page-ranking-domains-backlinks.html

Rather then let them delete you can try picking them up with snap, or godaddy back order. There is a small window that you can re register these domains before they get "reset".
Now that you found a nice domain from 1996 with a ton of authority you could either A 301 your domain now into that bad boy or what Im gonna do is 301 that aged bastard into your main site to give it that extra authority and age from good ol' oogly googly.

The part I could be wrong about is 301 the old bastard into your new domain and the age and authority being passed. But from everywhere Ive read this should work and does work.

***My Jerry Springer Passing Wisdom*** Lets say I register n3tflix.com and netflix.com figures out im trying to be a snaky bastard and one up them with there own name. (there registered trademark and all that bs) Rather then squash me from the get go, doing that whole seizing my domain for intellectual property thing. They let me run wild for a bit, get some sexy backlinks. Let my shat domain age for a bit and a year later after I put some work into it, they do that whole seize my domain thing. Well rather then let that bastard go down the pooper, what do they do? They 301 that shit into some SEO article and now they have free traffic from me and my work.

Welcome to the world of SEO

Harvest high PR blogs in your niche & email webmasters, offer to make a guestpost, offer to send them free product in exchange for a review on their blog. Your main task is to get links from as many IPs/Domains as possible.

If you have a reputable website, I wouldn't recommend buying expired domains & redirecting them to your site, unless you find a great one in your niche.

I said one old site not a ton of random sites. The example was to reiterate the fact that big businesses do this all the time.

Yes all that high PR will give him authority it wont give him the age. If he is against a very established authority site, age is going to play a factor.

The best solution here is to build high PR backlinks in a natural way in addition to submitting unique articles with relevant keywords directed to your home page, inhigh PR directories like ezine.

    Good point here.
DO a very detailed backlink campaign of your competitor.

If some of his links can be "killed" do so. Like removing wiki links, reporting a certain pages as spam to the webmaster. Try to get web 2.0 banned. Asking webmasters to remove spammy links and tell them that there original link to your competitor is bad neighborhood.

If you cant kill them copy them. Drop your link in the same forum pages. Submit your link to the same article directories. the list goes on...

Try manual bookmark + twitter retweet.

You might want to use guestblog post (high PR low alexa) as well.

Thank you very much for all the replies. Some of them are confusing, some of them are trivial and some of them contain real GEMS. I appreciate the will to help of you all! Thanks!

I have all the backlinks to him. He used press releases, classified ads, social bookmarking and invests many in banner advertizing on niche related blogs. He didn't do one anchor tagged link. All created links by him contain just the company name. He is often talked about in communities, more than we but just a bit more.

But it is interesting to see that one guy that links 100% only with his brand name get this allmighty authority. He publishes a new product in his shop - Instant #1 rankings - often over the brand itself (I ever thought this is not possible anymore after the brand name update).

With this do you mean seriously negative seo?
