My ads are popping up and then disappearing when people type in letters, as instant search only shows ads in realtime as letters are typed in... is there any workaround to this???

Try checking to see if there are any new settings in the adwords campaigns. But I really don't think there is a way around it unfortunately.
 
Wow, another piece of crap update from the Big G. Luckily it can be disabled, but I didn't even think about AW CTR.

That sucks.
