Just received this message today in GWT:

The URL http://****.org/ is no longer appearing in Google search results because our algorithms have selected http://projection11111.appspot.com/****.org instead. Please see this Help Center article for more information about this message.

The site previously had a - 50 penalty, i made some changes and sent a reconsideration request and then got a message 2 days ago that the manual penalty was revoked but then today got this message! Site is still indexed when i search for it.

Help center article doesn't provide much info.

Anyone had this before? is it just part of the process of site getting back on the index naturally when your penalty gets lifted or a new problem?

Thanks, i did that already but didnt find any useful into. It seems Google owns that appspot.com domain and i could not find an answer.

Basically looks like Google is saying it replaced my site (due to duplication) with a cached version on one of its own repository sites because my site is a duplicate of its own stored version!

That's worrying as hell if that is the case, imagine if they started doing that with all the content they scrape! :O

    hi bud,

were u using scraped content on the whole site or just a page?

not heard of anything like this before so i cant offer any advice, does seem google haev been cracking down on a lot the last 6-12 months.

    hope u find a solution.

perhaps a re-write of the content and then a few unique articles on web 2.0's may bring it back once everything is unique?

Thanks for the feedback but i think you dont get what i am trying to say. My site is no longer penalized (due to backlinks) according to Google.

My content is original but Google has a cached copy of the content and Google thinks its copy of my site is the original and mine is the copy! Obviously Google did not create the content and i did so just wondering why they sent a weird message with a link.

If you add your site domain to the end of that link then your site will copy up too thesame. Any site will. Just a weird message and trying to figure out what to do next if anything or soemthing to ignore.....

Wow, that's bad. You might be able to add a no-cache tag to see if you can get the cached version removed. Not sure if it will work since it's already crawled

Look at this thread regarding appspot. That last post is interesting. http://groups.google.com/a/googleproductforums.com/forum/#!category-topic/webmasters/crawling-indexing--ranking/xs0Q3LJkeh0
