So I read G maps domination a while back and put it to use. Used fake addresses pics the whole bit.. it worked for a while than my listings stopped showing impressions which lead me to believe I was ghosted.

I tried to list again and this time clicked the don't show my address check box and had the post card sent to my house.

    Again no impressions.

Next I thought.. maybe my phone numbers are black listed? Also just read GPSS shared here.

So I follwed those instructions activated a brand new Gvoice phone number added pics etc and used a phoney address.

Not even an option to verify by phone. Instead It went right to postcard verify..how am I gonna postcard verify with a bad address?

Any ideas here would be appreciated.

quick question, are you using good proxies when filling out the G places info? what kind of address did you use, chaddo's strategy, or a postal box?

Basically an automotive business right near the center of the zip code I wanted to list the business in.

No I wasn't using proxies at all when filling out the forms.. think that would help? Would the proxies have to be from my state?

Also, regarding phone verification: if you use a phone number that has NEVER been in the GP system before, you can phone verify that... however, if you use a phone number that was previously used in the GP system, that will trigger an automatic postcard confirmation with no other choice available.

Does using a Gvoice phone number trigger Post card? G.P.S.S. says no.

Maybe because I routed the Gvoice number to one of my previously used numbers to set up gvoice?

    This is so frustrating.

MagicMike is a world of knowledge, he helped me a ton on another post. That's exactly the problem I ran into when I tried to use the same number.

Anyways, check the downloads section. Someone just posted a "Google Places Cheatsheet". It's about 15 pages long, but pretty much covers everything you need to do to get it ranked, which should hopefully stop the ghosting issue. Good luck.

    here is the link

check and see who posted it.

dont use gvoice and use proxies. In state proxies are best.

G Voice does not automatically trigger a postcard. We use it from time to time and have not had an issue with it... must be something else.

Google also seems to randomly select "postcard only" verification as well... this isn't absolutely proven (as far as I know), but from my experience it seems that it is true.

(btw... that was me who posted the GP Cheat Sheet... LOL)

They will be getting rid of PO Box listings. You can still find some that are ranking... but its only a matter of time before they enforce it fully. The rule is that you have to be able to receive a package at the address (UPS, Fedex delivery, etc) in order for them to accept it.

Again, can probably get away with it for a while longer... although I wouldn't try to set-up a new account with one now.

@Jericho... of course, I answered the wrong question here after re-reading your post. UPS and Mailbox etc. type places still seem to work well for us. Are they on their way out? Wouldn't be surprised. The addresses are very easy for G to track. I feel a major GP crackdown coming in the next 3 months... just my opinion.

What's kind of bullshit though if they do do that is that many people have legitimate service businesses that don't want to use a home address as their place of business.

Just think of all the small businesses like locksmiths, plumbers, pool cleaner, etc. That could screw a lot of people that have a legit business.

I have gotten around the postcard verification by recreating the listing and then doing it again. Also, you can play with the phone verification if you change the forwarding options like gnumbers will let you. You do need proxies if you are doing this on a regular basis. If you have to, outsource this part of the process to a clean ip user and then finish the job afterwards.

Yea, you're right... but they WANT to make it more difficult so you HAVE to buy adwords to get a listing on the first page! They are starting to test and roll out a new Google Local Places version of adwords as well... so they "ain't" going to be doing us any favors!!!

i would not let "g" know all my business about where i am forwarding my numbers to for my business. that is why i would not use g-voice. but that's just my opinion.

Agreed. I like staying away from G as much as possible. We have used G Voice on occasion to test it out... but not regularly. I personally don't even like using G Analytics because I think we're giving too much away... probably just paranoid tho...

There are still a ton of changes going on with Google Places. Hopefully it settles down soon.

I ran into their places adwords thingamabob this time out too.. it's called adding a tag and it's 25 a month.

I wonder if buying it would get me listed?

The problem is I have tried using adwords to suplement what I lost when I lost my G places listings and it's just no subsitute. The industry I am listing is 90% G places. I am sure of it.
