This is what paranoia sounds like!
My exact point though I twisted it
I had a few mobile visit from mountain view California a few weeks after I ranked #1 for my keywords. I was using slimstat to track my visitors so I knew for sure it wasn't a Google bot. Few weeks later penguin 2.1 hit and my site was sent to hell. But I had a lot of crappy backlinks mixed in with a few good ones so our situation may be a bit different.
This sounds a lot like my situation. Mixed links, many crappy ones.
I no longer have the IPs that hit the site because statcounter free only reports x amt of hits which I surpassed.
They haven't come by today. But my stats show the IP and ISP which said g in mountainview.
I guess it could be a bot or scraper hitting my site. I doubt its some random surfer.
But whats most interesting is -- they came in using many search phrases (dont know which they were encrypted) that showed I rank
from #1-3 with, and on many inner pages that get no traffic or visitors usually. Since I dont know which KWs they were, I searched myself using those LONG TAIL PAGE TITLES, and the KWs they do target, and I am no where to be found. In fact, what is found using those terms are OTHER inner pages (ranking from pg 2 and on), and not the pages that should have ranked.
Your thoughts might change when I tell you -- the niche is e$c0rt serv1ce KWs. Which might be lumped in with @dult or [email protected] or p0rn
and might be getting same scrutiny that [email protected]@y [email protected] or [email protected]@ ranking have been getting.
Thoughts guys? especially in light of the additional info I've given....
Jeez that made me laugh bro! :drinking2
Probably doing a manually review on your website. Do you have adsense on your website?
Maybe they are sizing you up for an acquisition! Hell, they seem intent on buying everything including thermostat companies why not your site?
If I was you I would block them from viewing your website and since it
is not their crawler bots it should not bother your rankings.
Show me their IPs, I'll let you know if they are Google manual reviewers or not
Having worked IT in large companies - there's something you're not taking into account here.
Let's say it was a training class or something. Those computers are NOT going to have unique internet IP's. They're going to have local internal IP's and at some point going out through a firewall/DMZ/etc (there's like a zillion ways to set this up, but in the end most are the same). So if 100 people in the same building visit your site you are going to see 100 unique visits from one IP.
Now, it's extremely possible that Google could have many multiple exits from their network to the internet (and probably do) but if they were being thorough and doing a manual review I think they are smart enough to spread them around the world - we all know it's not exactly hard to get proxy servers.
That said, this doesn't fit any scenario I'm really familiar with.
I wouldnt worry about it. I wonder what would happen if you started blocking those IPs though. I wouldnt do it on a money site though.
Get ready for a manual review.
I'm with those who suggest that someone is spoofing Google, so you don't notice they're scanning for your vulnerabilities... rather than getting ready for a manual review, I'd get ready for an attack!
"lul, lets spend our worker capacity on visiting this guys site. Lets see how shitfaced he becomes due to it."
I bet Catt Mutts is reading this thread, loling so hard.
Probably just google bots. Or maybe they have some small crawler on site that they take sample data with for testing?
The visits to your site are certainly not google employees. My best guess would be someone is cloning your site because they have seen it doing well.
Maybe there trying to figure out how to rank site. As they clearly don't know there arse from their elbow...
And why are you so scared ? If you have adsense on the website be sure that you will get manual search, I remember one of my websites which jumped to the sky from income and not so many visits, I saw G ip searching on all pages for months but when everything is ok what can they do ? Its like in a real life when you own a big market with much income and some agency is coming to view inside, also they will check your bank account, check your insurance, etc...etc.. and you are ok with that.
Maybe you are ranking for a term that G employees search often and they are real visits.
how can you be sure that the visits are from google employees?
Separate names with a comma.
