Just going about my business today and thought I'd check my rankings for a site ... um, what just happened?

All the keywords I was ranking for (40)-ish are all gone ... dropped. There are no manual actions, it still shows as indexed and the site hasn't changed at all.

It's a new site, 8 months old, but recently designed so I did a press release 2 weeks ago and sent some social signals, a very small amount, nothing that I thought would obliterate the site.

Google Flux I hope, but the content could be thin ... with affiliate links ... maybe they just said NOPE.

Any clues or experience with this this sudden blacklist?

Did you make any changes to your URL structure within the past 2 weeks? I know that when I switched my local site to HTTPS, I nearly fainted when I saw my all of my keywords and clicks plummet down to zero, only this wasn't the case. What had happened was that I was checking the HTTP version in the Google Search Console (formerly Webmaster Tools), which didn't display the data for the HTTPS version I 301 redirected everything to. If you made any changes to your website's URL, then make sure you add the new version.

If you didn't make any changes to the website, then check your analytics data and find out if the traffic on your site dropped and from what pages. If it was a sitewide drop and you don't have any manual actions, it could be an algorithmic penalty.

Nevermind ... my fucking ranking software is showing dropped or every site, for every keyword even though manually checking the rankings shows the positions.

On to my new thread ... "Why Rank Tracker owes me a new pair of underwear"

Thanks for the reply ... that feeling sucks.

I figured it out ... although now I need to figure why my rank tracking software is doing this.

It's possible that your rank tracking software is querying a 'newer' version of Google than when you do a search... so standby for 48hrs, it might push out to 'your' Google yet.

Just an update ... I sent a ticket to Rank Checker and it appears they knew about the issue and it was fixed the next day with an emergency update.

    All is well once again.
