I'm setting up an authority site. I've handwritten tonnes of content, like, 30+ 1000 word articles. I want this website to survive longer than a few months until the next update, I want a site that sticks around!

The thing is, I've been trying to understand SEO for a long time, and I have to be honest, no matter how much I read, it's just overwhelming, people saying you need to post to 200 blogs, like where are you getting 200 blogs from? Lol... Just as I was beginning to get in the groove because of automated programs, Penguin 2.1 comes out and now backlinking is completely different?! Now people are saying you rank by building only 10-ish high quality backlinks? What is a high quality backlink... High PR, niche relevant, but what type of backlink and where do I find these sites? Lol... Now people are saying don't do blog comments? Don't use GSA? People are saying don't buy links on private networks because your site can go up in smoke? Spun content is detected by Google much better now so no more spinning? Tearing my hair out :p

My last bunch of micro niche sites ALL got hit, they were my only source of income (and a little bit of eBay). I'd outsourced all SEO. I don't want this to happen again so I know I have to do SEO myself from now on :)
