When I was 12 and was reading about SEO, I thought spun content is actually written by geniuses. I genuinely tried to understand it.

This happens to me every time when I hire a new writer. They send their first article and I genuinely try to think the reason for the poor readability and word choice is nothing but my bad English and I just have to read multiple times to understand. But unfortunately, in 90% of the cases, they simply rewrite the top result or spin multiple top results.

Simplicity is the key unless you're writing for Nytimes.

A quick follow-up.

I ate mud at 12. Pretty cool of you to read about SEO at 12.

And now people think I have 9 years of *real experience* cause I joined the forum when I was 13. Content writing and copywriting require simplicity. Journalism doesn't.

Years of experience don't mean much anyways but I noticed people think they do.

If you have a problem with journalists writing in a complex manner, just show them what they have to deliver. Good briefs solve 90% of the problem.

Been trying to convince a brothers friend who's got his first year in journalism to even look into the ways he can spread himself about digital marketing...

"My dad says digital marketing is the least reasonable form of marketing"

Yeah like maybe but it's better than flying around on a scooter all day giving out about nothing to do

I had a similiar case with programmers. They just can't focus on *the money factor*. They are too distracted with figuring out how to deliver a feature. Some of them will do courses to market themselves but that's a very small portion. 95% (or more) of good programmers and journalists will be swallowed by corporation.

Everything you say puts me back in line
