Ironically named "Web 2.0 Blogs" by some spam peddlers, these two-page blogs on Tumblr and Wordpress sub-domains never see the light of day. After setting up the free content hub with an article or two, the site is then "infused" with link juice, generally from social bookmarking links.

Despite their prevalence, these sites don't do much for rankings. Links with no weight come in, and links with no impact go out. They persist because with a decent free template, clients can be shown a link on a page that doesn't look bad. Google doesn't need to do much to weed these out, because they're already doing nothing.

High-quality syndication and wire services possess a few unattractive attributes for spammers: there are editorial guidelines, costs, and even fact checking. Low-quality syndication services will send almost anything through to any site that will take it. You'll end up with a bunch of links, but not many that get indexed, and even fewer that get counted.

My experience has been that press releases have rapidly diminishing returns on syndication only, and the only way to see ROI is to generate actual, real coverage. I still see link-packed press releases all over the web that don't have a chance of getting coverage - really, your site redesign is not news-worthy. I'm not sure whether to attribute this to bad PR, bad SEO, or both.

Links from the majority of social bookmarking sites carry no value. Pointing a dozen of them at a page might not even be enough to get the page crawled. Any quality links that go in have their equity immediately torn a million different directions if links are followed. The prevalence of spam-filled and abandoned social bookmarking sites tells me that site builders seriously over-estimated how much we would care about other people's bookmarks.

Sites focusing on user-generated links and content have their own ways of handling trash. Active sites with good spam control and user involvement will filter spam on their own while placing the best content prominently. If you'd like to test this, just submit a commercial link to any front-page sub-Reddit and time how long it takes to get the link banned. Social sites with low spam control stop getting visitors and incoming links while being overrun by low quality external links. Just ask Digg.

Yea, I agree . I doubt web 2.0 's and press release's are devalued any time soon . Although you still need high PR blog comments ,forum profiles and bookmarking to make them worth anything anyways now a days . But it's always been that way .

I have absolutely no idea what you're talking about... and I have web 2.0 bots for hundreds and hundreds of sites automated.

You're wasting high PR comments on your web 2.0s? Why on god's green earth would you do that?
You can infuse the structure with PR in thousands of different ways that don't require you to farm and keep lists of the ever increasingly small AA high PR blog comment pages (that generally have 2000-3000 comments on them or more)

    What a waste of time.
Also roughly 98% of all bookmarking sites you prob spend your time/effort bookmarking on are not even indexed by google (see for yourself).

That might be one of the gayest articles I've ever read. If spam was not worth it I would be making $0. He basically lists almost all the main ways to get a lot of links and so he is basically telling us what matt cunts has been saying for years, create a great website, spend shitloads of time and effort on it, and just hope to the stars that visitors come and link to you. Why is this faggy bollocks being posted on BHW what do you think this is WF or something. From that dude's picture he looks like one of the guys who sits at the front of the class and writes down everything the teacher says even if it is a useless pile of crap (and of course the guy who scored with all the chicks, lol). I think he needs to crawl out of matt cunts butthole and wipe the shit out of his eyes then maybe he would talk 1% of some sense.

This article is like saying "don't try to bang a girl on the first date, it's really naughty and disrespectful of women". God damn, I am ashamed to say that at one point I fell for this bullshit. This kind of bullshit stops guys the world over from getting laid, you know if they would just pull out their proverbial xrumer and spray their link juice all over the place they would realise that if a girl likes you she wants your xrumer spam she doesn't want you to hold the door open for her and bring her flowers like a little bitch, which is clearly what this guy does because he doesn't possess a ballsack, and correct me if I am wrong, both girls, and search engines, need guys with balls. One of the keys to making even a moderate success and good ROI in blackhat is not to come on BHW and use it like it is freaking WF or something. i.e. don't believe faggy posts because there is a shitload of misinformation out there. One of the biggest sites of bullshit mongering apart from matt cunts' blog and all his associated web presences, is seomoz whose owner rand fishkin is so far up matt cunts' anus-hole he pretty much lives in his large intestine like lemmiwinks (but not nearly as cool as that little gerbil, I hasten to add).

I've never used SENuke as it was too expensive for me, I also dislike web 2.0's because they are quite gay and require a relatively large amount of content. You would also have to have a kickass bot to post on a significant number of them and you would have to regularly test each platform (tedious if you have 100 web 2.0 sites) with your bot because the sites make regular changes many of which can cause your bot not to function. Nonetheless this article should be renamed to "17 types of link spam to avoid if you don't want to make any money, P.S. I am gay, broadcasting via wifi from matt cunts bowel"

Never looked at it that why ? I just figured if you had high PR and relevant blog comments with forum profiles you wouldn't need as much links to your parasite properties to rank higher . I just bought scrape box and xrumer so I didn't always have the power to blast a bunch of AA links to my properties . But thanks a lot for the eye opener . I'll definitely do some testing and see for myself.

Relevancy...it's the single most important word for links. If your a roofer, for example, and you have links from roofing\diy forums, that relevant and will carry weight. If the roofer has a link on a blog with no mention of roofing it's not.But if 50 scrapebox links are on sites with the word roofing in the title or content then those links are worth something.
The new penguin may even be able to detect this,I have no idea but relevancy is key.If you spam relevant sites,it'll help because it's erm relevant to the site.

I have seen sites rank with a handful of links, these sites are seo sites but done well. They are keyword sites on different hosts with a couple of 301 pages to the main client site.
They are highly relevant,so carry weight. These sites are designed to look like real business sites, they are in a way.
Web 2.0s are used alot for 1 reason they are free and easily created with automation. If you do seo for a living you can buy domains and build quick websites and you charge the client(but you own the sites). It's a a more involved seo practive but a very effective one,it costs money which is why alot of people don't use it but I see a shift in that direction for any real longterm success.

well its seomoz so they are always going to say spam is not worth it so they can keep making money.Every now and then they do have some good posts (not really seo ones) but other than tha id say it mainly sucks. just like all their webinars are pretty crappy just pushin someone's service and explaining some 101 stuff.their tools suck, their open site explorer most of them time displays less than majestic, but still they raised more capital... so expect more of those great posts. which is kind of good since your average john wont be any competition for you guys.

That's total bullshit. I am still ranking sites using Web 2.0 links and I don't think that's going to end anytime soon.

It's obvious that some people are still only "reading" and not applying. If you are actively ranking sites, you will see how your competitors are ranking...then you will see that your competitors are still ranking with "spun web 2.0" bullshit. that's considering if you even know how to check a link profile...
