I hate the Better Business Bureau (BBB) - it is a complete scam and racket...yet consumers LOVE it and put a lot of trust in it.

I REFUSE to support them. Multiple times a day we hear "Are you on the BBB?" or "Why aren't you on the BBB?"

I assume many others get the same questions...

We simply say..."check your email" and send them this link while we are on the phone with them:

    Code:
    http://abcnews.go.com/Blotter/business-bureau-best-ratings-money-buy/story?id=12123843
(read the article and watch the video)

then read it with them on the phone and then say "Now do you understand why we do not support that corrupt organization?"

The answer from them will be "YES" 100% of the time...

    Then you close them :D

I also tell people, laughingly, that I decided not to join the BBB after you learned they were organized and ran by the mafia for years...lol. then follow up that sly joke with actually the BBB is just an advertising agency, similar to the yellowpages-they charge membership fees. And since you do all of your business word of mouth you just never saw a reason to get paid advertising.

Multiple times a day. I have noticed that clients calling from big cities mention to BBB more than those in smaller locations.

Yes it is similar to the red tractor food emblem, people need to be properly educated about the background of these associations and not just take them at face value. Definitely going to use that if it comes up, thanks!

Exactly. They just assume the BBB is great. We have never had a single person have an issue with it once they were shown that article and video. Works like a charm every single time.

    Wait,
Why are you not on the BBB? Lol it's free and if you have no complaints you automatically get an A-.... you're just not accredited unless you pay.. and you have to be in business for 5 years before getting an a lol But I understand where you're coming from... People ask us that too.. sending the link is a good idea and closing right after is smart too.

Yep, BBB sucks.. We've had some serious issues with those guys. They think they are a government agency and so does everyone else. Godaddy bends over and give your information to the BBB as well even if you have their worthless privacy protection. That's why I don't use Godaddy anymore for this exact reason.

You don't have to be in business for 5 years. I have some businesses that ARE listed with the BBB. I do not pay to be accredited though. Anyone can become accredited after 12 months in business and paying. You pay based on how many employees and the size of your business. I just refuse to support that organization, it is that simple. They are the biggest racket around.

Because of the ignorance of the General Public, The BBB have position themselves as a Legal extortion Ring.

Exactly. The general public believes everything the read online and holds that rating in high regard. The BB is such a racket. Hate them.

How much are they asking Net? Might be worth it to pay the Fvkers, just to circumvent the BS.
