Hey I recently started investing in sports after loosing a lot of money trading stocks. I lost money not only as a result of the performance of the individual stocks I was investing in, but because my brokerage fees & commissions ate up the majority of my tiny profits. So in September, I decided to take what would later be become 60 betting units out of my brokerage account and take the plunge to start strategically betting on sports. Needless to say, when began I was anything but strategic. Quickly, I found myself with 13.92 units in my online sportsbook account after exponentially increasing the size of my wagers after each loss using the Martingale strategy and falling prey to the gambler's fallacy of believing that the outcome of independent events will somehow influence the outcome of future events(i.e.: "The Yankees almost never loose five games in a row, so I'll bet even more money hoping that the loosing streak will break on the sixth game.") A more logical way to approach a streak would be to see that if they lost five games in a row, there is a clearly an issue with their performance, and until they can show me that the issue has been resolved it's likely that the streak will continue. That is just one component of my strategy that has helped me turn things around.

Back to my journey so far. When my account had 13.92 units left in it, I was faced with a tough decision. Should I scale things down by making my units a lower value and slowly work my way back up to my original bankroll, or should I just bite my lip and take a huge risk. I chose the latter. I bet everything I had left on a two team parlay that came through big time.

Even though the positive side of my journey began with a fool's bet, I have since developed a great disciplined strategy, that after 31 bets has given me an 82.75% success rate that I am documenting on twitter. Now my account has over 113 units at the moment, and I hope to reach 1000 units within one year. I will update you guys with my progress as I make my way to the top!

If your interested is this, I'll be happy to answer any questions you might have about the subject.

Well it's just a coincidence. I have been betting a few weeks now and decided to come on here to specifically post this today after not logging on here for 192 days( I know because I had to reset my password.) Either way we're all here for the same reason.

Good luck. How old are you just of curiosity? You sound like me when I was 16-21. Looking to get-rich-quick. I made and proceeded to lose a boat load of cash in the stock market & via sports betting before I realized building a legit biz was the way to go. Good luck though. Hopefully it works out better for you than it did me.

Great guess, I am 21. However, this is not a get-rich-quick idea. Think of it as an experiment. I am a college student who is actually studying business. At first, I just felt like it made watching sports with my friends a lot more interesting, but after things started to click and I kept winning day after day, I felt like I could make a business of selling my picks to others. The only issue with this of course would be proving my credibility. That is why I am documenting everything, to provide proof to future clients if everything goes well. In other words, the sports betting component of my strategy is not expected to provide long term profits.

THIS. If you can build yourself up and get a bit of reputation...even if it's just smoke & mirrors (have friends & others talk, blog, exc about how your bets won them $100k, exc) you'll make far more money sell other bettors information than you will actually gambling.

Honestly, I think that no one should limit themselves when it comes to making money. Sports betting or otherwise. You can make money in so many areas you just have to be educated and understand risk etc., There is risk in even something as simple as building a website, which all of us do, and many forget. Little tidbit: First go I ever had at sports betting, I made like $700 dollars in a month. Second month I made $1950. Third month I lost $1000, and decided to take a break, Lol. I haven't bet on it since. However, since that time, I have read a lot of books on the subject and seen the few professionals that do it as well. Very interesting stuff. My Verdict: It is difficult, but possible. Good luck on your journey and be smart!!

Sorry I haven't really had a chance to update this thread, but the day-to-day ups and downs of sports betting are not really all that interesting. What's really interesting is surpassing my one year goal of 1000 units in just three short months. You can see all the bets I made and the amount wagered on each game on my private twitter account that I recorded everything thing on. I am currently working on moving everything to an excel spreadsheet to be viewed easier. If any one else is interested in sports betting, I will be happy to answer any questions.

I won 100% bets in my life. It was one time.

I bet 2E and I won back like 4.5E. They were really easy matches so I knew I was going to win xD

I prefer to bet in new Internet sites. It is great chance to win if I put my money in advertisement.
