    Hey,

really strange thing happened yesterday. My site went from page 3 on google to no where. Couldn't find it during 8-9 hours. Then it popped up on page 2. Why does this happen? Felt a bit scary :)

Usually when a site disappear, that is because Google was finding your new ranking. This happens often if the site is new and it is getting steady stream of new backlinks.

Nothing to worry. As long as you have a site worthy for your intended users, Google will keep your site on their results page.

How old is the website? Most likely what happened is Google detected unnatural link building, that type of penalty can last from 2.5 - 6 months.

Its around 2 weeks old. But since its not a penalty and site is up and running on google again all is good. :)

Welcome to the Google dance. Get used to it. It's part of the game.

Ah yes - the google dance that takes place from time-to-time. If you're back and indexed in a week's time, you're safe. As long as you don't get sand-boxed, you have nothing to worry about!

Oh god, I love google dance. When I see my site dancing, uhmm... guess what I do? Start dancing too and keep building links :D Google dance is the greatest and funniest part of SEO :D

Just keep building links, as many as you can. Beat the shit out of web 2.0, article directories, contextual links, high pr blog comments and you will stick to the top SERP's in about 2 weeks ;)

but last time i got scared site dissapeared totally ... i left all softwares all backlinking by hand ... anything
and just left 100 unique rewritten posts on schedule in my wordpress blog ...

in 2 weeks it went first page where it never been before that with hard hard backlinks .. :)

So by that method anyone could back link spam any website and get it to disappear and receive a penalty? I don't think so.

This could happen when you first start out targeting your keywords. I think some people call it the Google dance. If your site / business is fairly new, then don't worry too much about this, it should settle down soon.

Meanwhile, it's best to diversify your back linking strategies and avoid spammy techniques (i.e. link exchanges and irrelevant comments). Write unique content related to your niche and post to blogs and article directories. Ping them and submit to social bookmarking sites. Also build links naturally by getting involved in relevant discussions, forums and comments.
