From Affiliate To Seller - Bad Idea?

My affiliate site is selling roughly 30 products a month and earning a whopping $1.20-1.80 per sale (items are 15-25$ each).

I got an idea and looked around, I can buy the same product myself in bulk at 3-5$ a piece and make $15 per sale if I sell them myself.

So now my 50$ a month affiliate site would be a 500$ a month affiliate site.

Problem is I would have to buy, package, ship as well as hope people would trust my niche site with their credit cards or CC.

On top of that I get about 1 sale per day, so I would have to be a goon and live at the post office constantly shipping these things.

Im quite a lazy fuck in this regard and have grown fond of my passive sleeping direct deposit income.

Anyone have any experience with e-commerce like this and if its a nightmare/worth the extra 450$/month?

I guess it depends how desperate you are for money.

I personally don't think it's worth it, but everyone's situation is different.

I guess it may be worth it if you believe your site will continue to make these sales. I wouldn't want to buy a bunch of inventory and then say Google smacks the site down and now you're stuck with all this crap.

Dont do it. $500 per month is not a life changing amount of money so its not worth it. The skills you have learned can make you much more than that.

If you can make a site that makes a sale per day then you are 99% of the way to making big affiliate cash. Dont change your business model now and end up spendign all your time with customer service, shipping, returns stock control etc. Plus all your eggs would be in one basket as gyuman82 says one google update could kill your entire business.

Instead find a niche with higher paying offers that convert and build a shit load of sites and bank hard.

It is so easy to fall in love with a crappy niche that pays little, thinking thats as good as you will ever get. but believe me making money in a crap niche is not much different to banking thousands per day in a good niche. You are 99% of the way there.

Doesn't sound like it's worth it. Perhaps you could make a sweet deal with a friend of yours who is money desperate? Have him handle the orders/shipping etc. And you can be the boss .

I'm not sure what you're selling but try to find a manufacturer that does drop shipping. They'll handle the shipping, fulfillment and storage of the stock. You just send them orders. You can do this easily through ecommerce platforms like shopify, etc.
