As my title says I'm not sure if to go with a new EMD that will be my brand, eg FloridaCarRentals.com with many exact monthly searches or buy an aged domain with back links with zero exact match searches. This is a long term white hat project. People say EMDs don't work but my last website ranks very well for its EMD search term/brand name.

    What are your thoughts guys?

I haven't actually got one picked out yet, I was going to message a few people who have abandoned their websites and get an old domain with some decent links to it. But on the other hand..save the 500/1000 dollars and get a fresh EMD, could always buy some good links with that saved money

    .

Just bear in mind that you'll get faster rankings with an existing (old) domain with decent backlinks if those backlinks are in niche

From my experience old domains are way much better than brand new ones (even EMD). But ONLY if the old domain is from the same niche and has a clean backlinking profile. Majestic SEO has a good indicator for niche backlinks and it's accurate enough.

I don't register EMDs anymore..I don't think they are worth it, on the long run. I prefer to build a brand around the content I post...with easy to remember domains...as few characters as possible.
