    Social Media is a important factor to the success of every blog. Almost all top brands are now using social media networks to get more traffic, leads, and conversions. There are a lot of plugins allow us to place social media buttons on blog posts. On this post, I am going to share with you a useful plugin that helps you display a floating share bar on the left or right hand of your content, not the top or bottom.

    What does Share Bar do?

    Sharebar adds a dynamic and fully customizable vertical box to the left of a blog post that contains links/buttons to popular social networking sites.
    What is the Advantage of this plugin?

    This plugin applies B.F Skinner?s Positive Reinforcement theory to social media marketing. Normally buttons are placed either at the top of the post, or the bottom of the post. While both of those positions are OK, they are not the best. If you place them at the bottom of the post, then you are expecting that the user reads all the way to the bottom. Sometimes users like the post, and they don?t read full articles. But they would still share your articles if there was a positive reinforcement. This plugin adds a small floating share bar which scrolls down with the user, so they can vote whenever they are done.
    For wide blogs, a vertical bar with popular sharing icons appears on the left of your post. If the page is resized below 1000px (default), the vertical bar disappears and a horizontal sharebar appears under the post title. Big Buttons are used in the vertical Sharebar to the left of the post, while the Small Buttons are used in the horizontal Sharebar that appears under the post title (by default) if the width of the page is less than 1000px (or whatever value you set).
    When Auto mode (enabled in settings) is ON, the Sharebars are added automatically. When Auto mode is off, you must manually add the sharebar code to your template files:

    • Vertical (next to post) Sharebar: <?php sharebar(); ?>
    • Horizontal Sharebar: <?php sharebar_horizontal(); ?>
    You can also call an individual button in any template by using the following code (where size is either big or small): <?php sharebar_button('name','size'); ?>
    Demo and Download

    You can see demo on TechSharing, I?ve installed it. And download it from here : http://downloads.wordpress.org/plugin/sharebar.zip or visit Dashboard >> Plugin >> Add New and search the plugin with keyword: Sharebar.
    Settings and Customization

    You can change nearly everything about the plugin from the Sharebar settings page (in the WordPress admin under Settings). The main page displays all of the active plugins ? from here you can change their order, edit the button code or delete them. You can also add new buttons or reset them to the default configuration, which features TweetMeme, Facebook, Google Buzz, Digg and a standard e-mail button.

    The Settings page allows you to disable the plugin from automatically adding the sharebars ? this is useful if you?d like to position them somewhere other than before the post content. You might need to do this if your template or theme uses the overflow CSS position, as that may sometimes prevent the Sharebar from being visible outside of it?s container element. You can also disable the horizontal share bar that appears beneath the post title, change the location of the main vertical Sharebar (left or right) or adjust the offset/margin of the Sharebar element.
    Lastly, you can also change the way the Sharebar element itself looks by modifying the CSS file found in the plugin folder. The design of the bar is meant to generic, feel free to customize it to fit your needs.
    Thanks for reading and hope you like my post! If you found this post useful, feel free to vote for this post using a floating share bar on the left.
