Hi, I paid someone on fiverr to post my free Ugg boots CPA banner on their niche related site. There has been about 1-2 clicks a day with no conversions. (12 clicks total so far.) The Fiverr gig described their Monthly Blog Impressions as 80K. The Right sidebar banner is 300x250 and the banner duration is 15 Days. Audience: 80% Female. It specified "Only Fashion/Beauty Products/Celebrity/Entertainment Related Banners are Allowed"

Are these results typical? Should I advertise the banner on a site that has more visitors? Perhaps it takes more time to see results.

So you've created 1 banner, spent $5 and got 12 clicks and you're now on bhw asking "did i do something wrong" ?

Did you expect to be throwing crisp $100 bills at hookers on your yacht in the Caribbean already?

Try another 50 banners, 10 landing pages and several thousand clicks, then analyse results, tweak and refine. If after that you're still not profiting then alter the advertising idea within the niche and try again, and if that still doesn't get you profitability modify the niche and repeat.

You also won't get much in the way of results from a $5 banner buy. Unless you've got $5k to test with I wouldn't bother with media buys. You might get lucky at $1k-$2k or even very lucky at $500, but you won't get anywhere near profitability with a $5 buy. You may as well buy some lotto tickets with that.

And lol @ 80k monthly impressions.

    That doesn't mean much.

    1) That's total impressions for the entire site per month so that could be a couple thousand uniques per month, or it could just be a lie.
    2) Impressions don't equal clicks. You can expect 0.1% to 2-3% depending on site and placement.
    3) If he's selling this at $5 he's either lying to you, or he's giving you crappy placement and selling tons of banners that will go alongside yours.

Can you actually see your banner on the site? If so and it's in a good position, then he's lying about the impressions.

What did you expect for $5? That's like 3 clicks on most CPC networks....

Thanks for the feedback. I've been trying for 1 year in IM and have yet to make my first dollar(I've tried clickbank, peerfly, amazon etc). Perhaps my next idea is better. I plan to next try a CPA iphone offer on a quarter flyer (simple black and white) with a .com domain handed out at a nearby NYC/Long Island college campus(through fiverr) before the start of class (with a QR code.) Other ideas include CPAs related to vaporizer cigarettes, books, general gift certificates, get paid to take surveys etc.) I would use an affiliate that allows offline marketing (someone recommended adworkmedia, more suggestions are welcome.) I'm also thinking about placing free pens around campus with the website url too.

My hopes are to hand out/leave around 100 flyers a day and get 15 clicks and 1 conversion per day.

That's not how you succeed online. You can't just come up with an idea, expect X conversion rates, try it, then move to the next thing.

You'd spend a long time on the one project, tweaking and changing it until you reach profitability. You just won't find something jumping from idea to idea. No one ever does. Ideas don't make money. A systematic, dedicated approach to a project makes money. Within that project there will be multiple ideas/tweaks and it evolves as you test and monitor results.
