What are the best free press release
    services out there right now?

In the past I have used:

    PHP:
     http://free-news-release.com
Yet, it doesn't show the verification image
and I've looked through the code, is there
a way to find the verification code?

Also, what are good free press release services
to use to get into google and/or to get into
    Google news?

    All help is appreciated.

The best one I have found that I still have backlinks from and it's been over a yr is prleap. They also have a paid service that works very well. I used prleap when I was doing crazy mystery auctions on ebay and one auction got over 17,000 views and 700 watchers ended up in a College study course on internet marketing, radio, newspapers etc.

They also have great stats that tell you how many times it was viewed, downloaded and so on.

If you want a press release that once it gets approved will show in google. I would try prleap. I cannot give you anymore advice because this is the only press release service I've used.

I apologize but after looking at the site they are no longer giving free pr's.

They charge $49 for the cheapest one, back then I only paid $25 for the pr. I guess times have changed. It lets you know how much I use press releases, lol
