For the most part, this is assuming that each opt-in is worth $1. Most people will not get it to the point where they receive a gift but yet, the publisher will receive a lot of opt-ins.

Does the friend have to confirm their email address or opt-in? It can't be as easy as submit an email address and that be it.

I doubt the leads will be good but none the less, you'll have true double opt-ins that you can use to promote something... not sure what.
