    Hello,

    I'm really new here on BHW (as a registered member), but I've been keeping an eye for this forum for some time now!

    Some time ago I read an awesome post about scraping expired Tumblr blogs with Gscraper (blackhat-seo/blogging/596495-method-free-way-get-expired-tumblr-blogs.html) and after I tried it I got super excited: it was something easy, rewarding and cool like bitcoins!

    I was finding free PR4s very easily however they started accumulating and it got very hard for me generating content to all of them. The thought of creating a simple bot with WinAutomation run through my head. However in the meantime Google was on to me: I was using only one Tumblr account and leaving a massive footprint.

    Something better occurred to me - why not do the same thing with 301 redirects instead? It involved much less work and seemed very promising until I discovered that no free service allows that!

    Finally I found out that most URL shorteners use 301 redirects so I sought for one with the option to delete links, scraped it until I pissed off Google, registered some high PR expired links (with title) to my website and pinged them.

    My question is the following: is this going to work or am I just wasting time?

    Update (positive results):
    - One of the shorten URLs was picked up by ahrefs in less than 12h as a "redirect";
    - It's a PR3 and has 24 backlinks from top-level domains;
    - These backlinks still stand so the shorten URL won't lose ranking;
    - The ranking is theoretically associated with my website (301).

    What I'm trying to say is that 24 websites have links to my website (I checked). How cool is that!

    If you think this method is worth it I'll create a new post with a complete step by step tutorial about it.

    This method is not worth. Better point some EMD to tumblr - than it will automatic be 301 to this domain. This will be good easy way to rank some low competition keyword fast and cheap.

    It might be a coincidence but my website's SERP position went up today.

    I'm starting to believe that this method really works! But since no one wants it I won't waste time writing a tutorial :(

    I'm not exactly sure what your doing here. Are you 301ing the tumblr blogs to one site? Or are you saying that you are just getting a bunch of url shortenerd to ur site?

    You can do only ONE 301 for the same domain

    You're absolutely right! If you want more than one 301 redirect with this method you'll have to use proxies (I use TOR).

    Natural random backlinks created by someone else -> High PR deleted shorten URL -> 301 redirect -> Your website

    It seems to work and they are picked up by ahrefs analytics. However even if this method doesn't influence/affect Google rankings you will get almost "direct" links to your website from the websites that mention the expired shorten URL.

    I use an adapted version of the user's "Treeofl1" method and his thread "blackhat-seo/blogging/596495-method-free-way-get-expired-tumblr-blogs.html".

    What do you need:

    1. A free version of GScraper
    2. Lots of free proxys. Use "GPTool" and check the "Google pass/test" option.
    3. Keyword lists or dictionaries (feed Gscraper or it dies!)
    4. "Online Bulk Outbound Links (OBL) Checker" (Google search it. I use it to check for 404 errors - expired stuff)

    What to do:

    1. Follow the official thread.
    2. Filter gathered data with GScraper. (Example: delete duplicated URLs).
    3. Get PR of URLs with GScraper. Choose high PR pages.
    4. Use "Online Bulk Outbound Links (OBL)" to check for errors!

    Register the expired Tumblr blog domain names as yours.
    You can get some sweet PR4s with this method.

    If you don't use proxies Google is going to get you!

    Some time ago I didn't use proxies for scraping so I pissed off Google. Later that day Matt Cutts, Larry Page and Sergey Brin came in to my house saying that they wanted to "buy my business". I happily accept their proposition. Suddenly they started breaking and trashing my house like Bill Gates did to Homer Simpson!!!

    Just joking!
    PS: The video is not mine. It's just a gag.

    hey thisigor pm coming to ya, nice thread btw, just a little hard to grasp. So we're just buying domain names (expired Tumbler blogs to be exact) and then placing a 301 to a money site - correct?

    I think what he means is scraping shortened URLs that have been deleted, but have existing links yet. (Bit.ly, for example if they allow deletion of links)

    When he finds a few expired shortened URLs, he registers them and points them to his domain.
