I have purchased a very good domain name, I am potentially looking to run an ecommerce store on it in the future maybe 1/2years

However to build authority I would like to know what you think of the following strategy

I am dyslexic and not a very good writer so I can not write articles myself.

My plan was to set it up as a Wordpress site with a News/Magazine Theme and a Directory Plugin

Then once the design was sorted I would do the following:
1) Reach out to existing bloggers/writers to write guest posts about topics and news within the niche
2) Set up a directory, a onsite directory where stores in the same and similar niches can add their listing to the site. (with nofollow link) for free
3) Reach out to Manufacturers of products within the niche for reviews on products
4) Rewrite news articles in the niche

I would like to know if this would be a good idea to build relevant content or if I should think of a different direction to build the site contents gaining authority and brand recognition.

Your input on this SEO method would be greatly appreciated.

Any help, changes or criticisms please let me know.

Thank-you

1) I don't think many bloggers / writers will flock to your site to give you guest posts when your site is new, has no traffic and no SEO value
2) again, why would those sites rush over to your site to add anything (products, links, articles, it doesn't matter). You need to establish yourself (well, your site) as an authority, or at least a constantly good player in your niche, and then everyone will have reasons to partner with you, sometimes without you doing any outreach at all
3 and 4) same.... you need traffic, mate! You also need good metrics for the site (good DR / DA, good number of RDs, and traffic above everything else)

Not trying to put you down, on the contrary, the idea is good and could work, but not when your site is unknown in your industry and with ZERO important metrics (DA and traffic).

fair points, thanks for the reply

I would go with free guest posts.

I'm kind of suspicious of directory submissions unless you're talking about local service directories for local SEO.

But outside of that fairly narrow use, I’d steer clear of directories.

As far as guest posts go, it’s very tempting to just basically hit up every blog and ask them if they would publish a guest post.

Here's a tip: if you notice that a blog consistently publishes guest posts—and a lot of those posts go to pages that are not thematically related to the blog—the link value from that site isn't going to be very high.

You're better off hiring a virtual assistant from places like Fiverr or Cognoplus—where you can hire VAs on a quota basis instead of a time basis—and have them look for blogs that are related to your site.

And then, get their contact information either through social media or their email contacts on their websites.

Reach out to them, and say, basically, “You supply the topic, and I’ll write something for you,” and let them call the shots.

Usually, this does the trick.

If you target blogs that don’t normally publish obvious guest posts, then you get a competitive advantage if they have solid SEO qualities like high DA, high trust flow—all that good stuff.

This is how you get a competitive advantage with guest posts.

Don’t do what everybody else is doing and just look for blogs that have phrases like “Write For Us” or “We Need Writers.”

The links that you get from frequent guest post targets aren’t going to be as good as if you cherry-picked all the blogs that are out there based on niche-specificity and overall SEO value.

The fact that they normally do not publish guest posts gives you a tremendous advantage.
