The adwords competition is pretty low.
And the CPC shows $10.15 here :)

Keyword research has got to be my worst point. You say its low competition -- my guess is you'd never rank #1 or #2 because they're going to be permanently held by apache itself, softonic.com is #3 and they're trusted enough they have microformats enabled, softpedia #4, wampserver #5 and PR6 ...

My gut instinct is that it would be near impossible to get yourself ranked #6 and that is the highest you'd ever go without it being such a struggle it wouldn't be worth it. Please someone tell me I'm wrong and correct me ... I certainly want to learn when it comes to keyword research. I'd love to hear this really is a piece of cake.

On top of that, I think that people searching for apache are computer literate enough to know that what they're looking for is apache.org and they're just using Google as a shortcut to get there.

Surely there is "tough" competition. Have to spend $$$$ for SEO alone to reach first page and nearly it is impossible to reach top 4.

I think OP here refer the adwords competition not SEO.

If that's your worst point, what're your strong points? O_O
Your analysis is pretty much correct. It would be possible be overtake softpedia, but that's pretty much it. Softonic, apache, and wampserver are there to stay

I think it would be fairly easy to rank #2. You're right about being #1 though, that would be very hard, and just a waste of time for such a low traffic word, with low/low to mid CPC. We're looking at about 120 searches per per day. If you're #2, you're going to get roughly 30 visitors a day, if that. This is a branded keyword, that most people won't go past the first ranking. I was #5 (or #6 can't remember) on a 650,000+ exact term, and only seen a handful per day (well under 1000) because the top 2 were so branded.

But after that, it wouldnt be too hard to pass the rest. We must have different rankings because I have about.com as #2 (used zend2.com). But it goes for all of them. None of them have a to nof links, and none of them are really targeting this keyword. So it wouldn't be too too hard to get #2. It would take a bit of work obviously because they are authority sites, but nothing too extreme. Me personally, it's not worth the time even if it took 5 hours of work to do. At most you'll probably make $25 per month.

I wouldnt buy this because :

Apache is for websites , especialy for web developers .

We just dont see pages like others .

Seriosly now , do you click google adsense when you see on a page? :))

I don't think so bro :) Even tough they are not optimized for the target keyword, they have tons of backlinks from aged authority high PR pages where the anchor text is just the variation of that keyword.

The top three sites gained too much authority and trust from G0ogle because of the relevant quality links. It's gonna be really tough to reach #2 in my opinion. :)

Two proxies I checked has About at #2. It's really not that hard, I really dont' give a shit about a domains age or authority.

I'm using MS( location - US) to check the stats. #2 spot is the official "Apache" site.

Okay, I'm getting different readings on different proxie. One I did had apache site links under it's domain, and about.com is #2.
Anyways, after the official site, a site can be ranked fairly easy.

I am sure, trying to ranking in this keyword is a waste of time. It is like you want to take out nike.com in a keyword nike

If you have a tech niche site then using the keyword in an article might get you you the correct adsense unit.

Instead of targeting the EMD why not just target the keyword?
