I wanted to share this website because it has been a money saver and reliable.

I've noticed someitmes I can buy 1-4 domains in a DAY thinking that I have a great idea. One way to curb down on expenses is to get free hosting. This allows an individual to 'test' a website, rather than pay ~5$ a month.

Easier said than done. Most FREE hosting is SHIT nowadays.

I just wanted to share that for the past 3 years of Internet Marketing, and 7 years actively using hosting for some reason or another, FreeHostia has consistently been my host.

I really noticed this in IM when I had an idea for a website, but physically didn't have my wallett with my CC within 100 miles of me (long story), so I rememberd Freehostia was absolutely free, so I used them for this small project.

Turns out, it has saved me hundreds of dollars in hosting for 'test websites' that have failed miserably.

Freehostia has cpanel, allows 1 database, 6 GB monthly traffic, 250mb space, INSTANT signup and allows up to 5 domains to be hosted per hosting account. Also, you can sign up with multiple accounts, I have at least 10.

No credit card or anything is required for the free signup.

Too bad they don't have an affiliate program.

    Heres the url:

awardspace.com and host-ed.com are excellent too.... the only drawback with them is the 'bad word filter' that poses problems for some niches....

does freehostia has a 'bad word filter' too?

    I don't know? I don't think so.

I've hosted some webcam blogs and they've never been taken down. They have some pretty nasty words in the descriptions.

is there really no hidden tricks using this free hosting? Would love to try it but I'm kinda skeptical.

Believe it or not, no. That's why I'm sharing it.

I guess the only 'downside' about this, is that after a year they will shut down your hosting account if you decide not to buy their hosting. But by this time you should already know if your domain (niche, business, etc.) is doing well or not. Even then, to maintain hosting it's $2.95 a month.

Not sure how they are doing now, but I remember LOTS of members reporting terrible downtime with Freehostia as well as little to no customer support.

Maybe something has changed, but I still wouldn't use free host.

Just get "unlimited domains" hosting and set up your sites. Then when you need to add another domain to "test" the site/project, you're ok to do that - no extra charges.

Thanks for the heads up! I think I'm going to stick with the cheap hosting from ebay. I don't really care about reliability since it's just for backlinks.
