I've been searching for a new laptop for weeks and weeks without any luck and I've come to the conclusion that all laptop manufacturers are complete rubbish.

No matter how much money I throw at the screen, they seem to make SO many mistakes..

"Let's make the BEST laptop ever and then put a 3 cell battery in it and a glossy screen, brilliant idea eh?!"

Is this really too much to want?
    • Anti-Glare screen
    • i5/i7 cpu
    • 5h+ battery when using wlan
    • Lightweight
    • 13-14" screen
    • Look decent and lightweight

Money isn't an issue, these people simply do not seem to know how to make a solid laptop :(

    • Thanks Thanks x 1

I've built every single PC myself but with laptops this isn't possible sadly.

Need something that'd allow me to work on the road efficiently while still being powerful and good looking :/

Lenovo, I think the only thing they may be missing from a quick look at their site is the anti-glare screen and they used to have that.

Could be that Lenovo has stopped using/producing non-glossy screens, but I have seen them on sale.

If I did not miss something, this could fulfill the requirements on your list: Lenovo ThinkPad Edge E330 - Intel Core i5-3230M 2.60GHz (Win 7+8/UMTS)

But we all don't want to pay 50% more for outdated components.

On the toshiba website, you can customize how you want your laptop.

    Code:
    http://us.toshiba.com/computers/research-center/shopping-guides/custom-laptops/
Played around a little bit with it and this is what I came out with:

    • Intel® Core™ i3-3120M Processor (2.50GHz, 3MB L3 Cache)
    • Genuine Windows® 7 Home Premium 64-bit, SP1
    • 4GB DDR3 1600MHz (2GB X 2)
    • 500GB HDD (5400rpm, Serial ATA)
    • Wi-Fi® Wireless networking (802.11b/g/n) (150Mbps)

    Your Total: $487.49

You can upgrade the RAM yourself. Get a 8GB memory stick and just put it in yourself.

If you knew how to overclock the i3-3110M from 2.4Ghz to 2.5GHz you could save $50 on that config.

Had this been WF or even DP, I'd understand someone recommending an HP.

Who says you can't build your own notebook???

Google barebone notebook or barebook.....check the alienware and msi offerings.

    There's always a way.

No thanks. Especially not for a laptop worth 2x for the same specs.

    Those have glossy screen

Edit: Sony VAIOs also have glossy screens and all of the others that even remotely meet the criteria are extremely bulky.
Ended up going with an Asus UX31A because I could get it quick and for a good price, meets most of my criteria pretty well too

I really like ASUS. Had good experience with all of the ASUS laptops I have owned so far.
Might wanna check some of them out.
