I just wasted about 20 minutes watching Frank K*ern playing a slide guitar and I really want to puke...

This guy has hooked up with a guy I respect... John Carlton... and is trying to foist ANOTHER copywriting course on people. Please....

This stuff works, it's like a golden rule. But "old Frank baby" has decided to twist the same old tried and true copywriting techniques into another huge mega-million launch. Are you falling for it? This stuff is old and rehashed. You can get it from anywhere...

I won't leave you empty-handed, here's a good read so you can save your cash. It's Ben Hart. You want to write good copy? Want a ton of great marketing ideas? Want killer marketing ideas wrapped up in a great little PDF?

Good, grab your copy here. It's all you'll need!

    Enjoy!

And don't be fooled by another FK (F**K you over deal)!

It's tough being a star, Frank has a lot of guys depending on him. If he retires and he could any day, a lot of guys would go tits up real quick.

Lol! Thanks mahogany rush, not only for the ebook, but for the commentary. Yeah, Frank has his fingers in all kinds of pies, and most of the big name "ghoulrus" are constantly brown-nosing him.

This latest is indeed more re-tread than new. Ah well, he'll make a few hundred thousand off it I'm sure.

    mahogany_rush,

That's a hell of a good book by Hart.

I don't understand the Kern bashing. I saw the guitar video. I absolutely love the broad outline for blunt splendid copy:

    1. Tell them what you've got.
    2. Tell them what it will do for them.
    3. Tell then what you want them to do.

So simple it hurts, but not many do it that way.

Kern's prices are too rich for my blood right now, but if I make as much money off his advice as I think I will, I might buy one down the road and jump on board just to say thank you.

Value has two parts: (1) the good it can do, and (2) perception of how available it is.

Note that this last is not how available it is, but the perception of it. A guy can die of thirst right next to a well if he does not know it is there.

Kern might be rehashing stuff, but it is still new stuff to many people who are simply not aware of the old stuff, or they don't have access to it, or they are drowning in a sea of information overload and wouldn't recognize it if it bit them.

Sometimes the obvious is not so obvious.

Here is the bottom line for me. If it helps me make money, it is VERY VALUABLE, I don't care if it is even free for others. I will do what it takes to get it if I realize I need it. Free is better, but it is better to have it than not have it. If that means paying, so be it.

(If I feel grateful and got it for free, I will probably pay later out of my abundance, but that is another issue.)

If it does not help me make money, it might be good, but it is only marginally interesting. Kind of like fish chowder in the middle of an ice cream parlor.

    Wildly good copywriting summarized:

Step 1: Tell people they have a problem
Step 2: Tell them you have the solution
Step 3: Take their money and give them something, anything, that might help a bit
Step 4: Laugh all the way to the bank

    FleshJoe,

    Not a bad outline.

Well, there is the little matter of getting people to agree to give you the money in the first place, say in the same quantities that Kern gets. I'm not talking Black Hat. I saying customers knowingly forking over gobs of money, happy to do so and low refund rate.

How many people do you know personally who get others to do that?

I don't know about you, but I'm studying this thing. I want to be able to do that...

    :)

(I'm not saying there is no BS involved. I just notice that customers are happy with one kind of BS and not happy with another.)

I Really Don't Understand Why There Are So Many People Out Here Bashing All Of The "Guru's".

They're Out There Making The Money That We All Want To Make.

Instead Of Bashing Them, Take Notes :p

Then When You Get To There Level Of Success, Feel Free To Say What You Will.

Geez, I didn't even realize he was selling anything. I thought the subtext was how well he knows John Carlton and how terrible his guitar playing is. I wasn't offended by this video at all. Did it reveal anything earth shattering? No. I like Frank and I like his whole buffoonish persona. I can't stop thinking of Owen Wilson whenever I watch him and expect him to start talking about throwing 7 different kinds of smoke and elaborating on his Frank-ness.

Kern is a great marketer and a lot richer than most of us. He puts his own spin on things and in the white hat community people worship him. I think the video was pretty sweet if you ask me.

He made you talk about him in this forum, thus promoting him. That means his marketing works very well on you. It's just important to create publicity and people to talk. Good or bad it doesn't matter much.

Perhaps guys bashing Kern could simply learn from his marketing skills and replicate them in your niche :)

Also, not sure any of us on here should be throwing stones...given that most of us are finding "inventive" ways to get material for free ;)
