So, I came across a site saying:

Notice: This domain name expired on 09/07/09 and is pending renewal or deletion

If it's not renewed by the owner, how long will it be before it's made available to buy (generally) ?

I'd like to know this as well.

One I want to register said it expired on 8/25/2009 and pending renewal/deletion. So its been over 30 days...maybe its 60?

i think its like 30 and then change, like five or fifteen days or something.
its like their redemption period usually, but the best thing is to get into g0daddy's service that will automatically try to register it as soon as it becomes available. I got a pretty nice domain that way, but it cost my an extra ten or fifteen bucks or whatever, but the domain made me that back pretty quick

I don't know if it's universal, but after the 30 day redemption period, there is a 60 period when you can purchase the domain for $200 from the registrar. After that, it is available for purchase by anyone at normal pricing.
