OK, its got low comp and high monthly visits. The EMD is available but only in .org and .info.. Is it worth going for if I can't grab the .com? I know I could long tail it, but would .info or .org EMD be better than a .com long tail?

Thanks in advance for your time,

    James :)

I'd go for a .com, but if you cant get the .com or something similar then the .org emd would be best
In my experience Google will prefer something similar as a .com rather than an emd in an org or info though,
so if it was redwidgets.org or redwidgets.info you were looking at I'd be more tempted with redwidgetsforsale.com or topredwidgets.com if that makes sense?
    good luck!

avoid the .info. I have always gotten .org and .net since .coms r never avail when i do KW research.

I have a .net and .org EMD that rank #1 without many links so I'd say just go for the .org. It really isn't all that important to only get the .com

As long as you aren't really crowbarring it in there, a longer tail URL with a .com is probably better than an EMD .info. It depends what you can get as a .com really. Ideally it will be something straightforward like www.[keyword]store.com or something along those lines. Check with the Keyword Tool to see what people are searching and see if one of the better results is a potential .com option. It's just a fact that dotcoms are stronger, and as long as you don't have to bend steel to get them they are the best choice.
