I test site load times quite a lot and normally use a few tools:

    Googles tool:
    https://developers.google.com/speed/pagespeed/?hl=en

Time to first byte check (Found via another thread here and its very interesting tool):
    http://www.bytecheck.com

I also used this tool which is good for showing load times, objects on page etc and can really help you analise slow components on your site and then speed them up:
    http://www.websiteoptimization.com/services/analyze/

Anyway, today I found a great tool that trumps all of these.

It combines the best bits of each tool into one, it shows the most comprehensive information in terms of page speed and load times and the other great thing is that you can select to test your site from different locations - something that was important to me as I was trying to test load times for a UK site, so I selected london server.

The only bad thing about this site is that you have to wait quite a while for results because it puts your site in a queue:

    That's almost ironic lol.

Nice find though. I've done quite a bit of speed optimisation work, and I normally use these two sites:

    http://tools.pingdom.com/fpt
    https://developers.google.com/speed/pagespeed

One thing I've learnt though is that it's almost always the images slowing your site down. Compress and resize your images if necessary and you'll more than likely see an instant improvement.

Yea totally agree re images. Plus the amount of objects makes quite a difference.

I tested my business site and the site performed received A's with the exception of the time to first byte, where I got an F. It seems like a nice tool, so I'll bookmark it and test it again later.

Time to first byte on the site I tested today was 3.5 seconds so you guys didn't do bad.
Im looking for a host that will provide <0.5, that's really why I found and used that tool.
