what is your kc? 5k is a really good number.
ofcourse 1 kw is just one page, add more variations and longtails and you can add up alot of numbers.

don't go with tool prediction scores, Check the the page-1 yourself and see if there are any competitors.

"what is the recommended amount to actually be able to gain money with it"
    is it a buyer keyword
how much will it cost to get past the competition
what is your intended means of monetization
is your landing page properly optimized for conversions; have or will you split test it

One simple way to analyze the competition is by to check the websites manually that are ranking on 1st page for that keyword. If ranked websites are big brands then it would be hard beat, on the other side if those websites are not big brands and their inner pages are ranking for that keyword, then I guess little effort is required.

Don't purely look at that keyword. Look at all the related keywords around that keyword and see if you can come up with a sizable list of keywords with upwards of 10-20 searches per month. You can't put all your money in one basket (targeting that one keyword). What you'd want to do is target that main keyword in an authority post which will, by default, include a ton of variations of the long tails you're targeting. Once you start getting links to your website and post, you should start ranking for a ton of these long tails! So don't put all your money on ranking for that one keyword in the top 3, rather try ranking for a ton of related long tails which should offer your website some solid, stabilized traffic. You'll even probably rank for your main keyword in the process without even knowing it ;)
