.htaccess file that was slowing down my site. I just found a stock .htaccess file from WP site and uploaded that. Before that I deactivated it all the plugin and still nothing.

So if your WP site is slow mess with
.htaccess file that might fix it. Ignore that code.

Don't foget to backup original .htaccess file

You can't put that code in htaccess as htaccess doesn't support html. Plus using that code in no way can speed up your Wordpress, thats charset declaration after all

    That code is BS.

TheMoneyWizard, check out CloudFlare. That could help.

Well, it did work so maybe it worked because by .htacc file was bad or something. My site was loading 2-5 sec now its almost instant. Not sure what fixed it. My original .htaccess file was empty then I replaced it with that code and then site gave me an error so I deleted .htaccess file and now it is super fast.

    wtf? html in htaccess?

It's more like removing the existing code helped the site load but you probably broke something else.

Yeah I guess deleting that .htaccess file did it not the "code" . I just know that site is running super fast after doing that.

Is it ok to delete .htaccess file and run a WP without it?

well, deleting htaccess can speed up things in certain ocassions..

yes, you can run WP without htaccess if you don't use custom permalinks or other stuff that requires rewrites..

It's probably instant, because some pages were cached by your browser. It has nothing to do with that code, as it's not even meant to be in .htaccess.

Try accessing your site from a different computer and see - the page should load slower the first time.

Maybe your old .htaccess had some junk codes which increased your loading time and using this one cleared it all.

Yes, it was probably the plugins you had. They create codes that are inserted into htaccess then upon uninstallation those codes are not removed, very bad habit from the developers to not do complete cleanup.

Cloudflare could speed it up, but individual code can't really do this. Also high traffic site will slow things down.
