This might be slightly off topic, but I think you guys are the best for this answer. At my company we have a main email that everyone digs through to get their content. So clients will all email a main email and our workers are selecting emails out that are for them. (yes they have their own email addresses, I over simplified for the sake of the question).

Is there a way to set up some kind of script (shared hosting cpanel) so that if an email contains "X" it is automatically forwarded to the correct person?

You can use email filters to achieve this.

If you are just talking about a specific account for yourself, then, you can just create the rules in outlook and save the trouble of going to the server to configure all these.

Gmail filters can do the job.

If the company email is not associated with gmail,

First of all forward all incoming email to a gmail account.

Next, you add all your colleagues emails as forwarding emails on the gmail account .( settings> forwarding and pop)
After confirming all your colleagues email for automatic forwarding, go to settings > filter> create filter.. from then on you should be able to create a filter that meets your requirement.
