    Hi All,

So - I just created about 2000 forum profiles with some new software I bought. Fast, clean, easy to use - I was very impressed.

To learn the program - I used the list of URLS which came with it - inside this list were thousands of Phpbb forums.

It seems the program has created all the profiles nicely.

Then - I go in and look at the URLs which contain my links - and each and every one of the ones I looked at you have to be logged in to view the profile (and hence the link)

What the F*** is the point in that? Google cant see them and neither can any other F*****.

Am I losing it? What was the point of that process?

I mean this is a joke - the software was about 200$ - I work my F****** BALLS off to get this stuff done - I had two PC's tied up for two days. In all honesty I dont even know if forum profiles (which you dont need to log in to see) work anyway in terms of SE ranking.

A whole F****** experiment and more than half of it completely COCK.

Im beginning to think - well I just dont know what to think anymore.

They do still have power even tho you cant see the link, not as much tho as one you can see.. and to be honest i would not use myself,

Also phpbb most, well infact 98% dont allow anchor text so again not good

They already aren't that powerful, taking that little extra off might make them close to worthless. Better off spending the time finding one high pr link then tieing two computers up for two days then. That sucks man.

They aren't dead. You just need to know how to use the software correctly. The best software for forum profiles is Xrumer.

maybe just search forums with open profiles? why bother for thousands of links if they not work? same old thing, quality over quantity also in quantity :)

You can make your money back in three days, but by the look of it (first, I bought this software, and then I was like WTF am I doing, OMG OMG OMG, I will start two threads on blackhatworld), it will take you nine months to figure out how to do that

yes, forum profiles, article submissions, and blog comments are all dead; and so are all Web 2.0 link wheels, as well as all sideways, in-text, context, bare, PR9, and edu links

I can use the software - the other types of links I posted are sticking there no problem and are open. I can add these URLs now to my link indexer to which I subscribe on a monthly basis.

    Its just the phpbb ones.

Are we saying - please advise - that a googlebot referrer will cause the forums (phpbb) to return the actual profile? Im downloading a FF plugin to test but would like confirmation through others exerience!!!! :)

    Spaceman,
Not sure what you're using, but Scrapeboard would have been my tool of choice just for the ability to post ONLY to publicly viewable profiles.

Saves a lot of time and effort to get your lists setup right. PM if you want more info and i'll show you how well it works for me

They are far from dead. I've had great results with them and I use them on all my sites.

The only thing thats changed is google doesn't index them automatically since there are a lot of softwares around.

Use a good indexing service and they work just great!

You need to seperate the sites which allow the signature links to be created and seen publically and the ones that don't.

How does one do it? grab 1000's of forums, use a good software like rank builder to create links, use scrapebox to find out what links were created and you'll be left with GOLDEN Nuggets ;)

    Hope that helps:)

I think it is not simply change the header. I have several forums, smf, phpbb & vb. I know that search engines are in a group that basically can view the content without login. but, I do not know how the forum works to recognize the bot.

Most of the phpbb forums does not support anchor text but only naked URLs so it does not matter a lot.

The links are worthless if you have to log in every time you see it. So they are useless.

Profile links still works but you have to include some sort of content/description" in the signature/about me sections. Links with content around them tends to get indexed much faster. Of course, you have to spin them to avoid any footprints. Google seems to give more value to informative and useful content. Also a good indexing service always helps. :)
