I posted an ad on gumtree, (was testing out the poker event method in london, epic fail). I got one reply, from someone not interested in the poker event, but he told me about a classifieds site called iList, it is kinda empty at the moment but it looks far nicer than craigslist. oh its called ilist.com

6,602 visits per day according to statbrain.

While there are lots of alternatives to CL, its biggest attraction is the traffic - it gets tens of millions of hits a day. -e-

You are absolutely right. I wouldnt bother with it now. Let people who post legit ads use it first, hopefully it doesnt get raped by people like us :p because that means a repeat of CL. If it looked as ugly as cl, kugli, and kijiji i wouldnt inform yall, but because it looks really neat and functional i decided to tell you all. It is quite unique and should be a great success, they would have spent a lot of money on that domain name.

For BH it is all about volume volume volume. Gumtree is about the most popular after CL. Unfortunately CL is getting harder and harder to not get flagged. Now for adult forums they are checking geographical IP so you need not just to be in the country you list in but also the city. A good proxy can get around this but with PVA and also many are flagging competition ads. It is just getting so hard. posting to many different lists may be the only alternative soon.

i agree. the front end designing is leaps and bounds above every other online classifieds site out there, which has been my biggest problem with craigslist. but in the end, what matters is traffic, so i use both iList and craigslist. when iList starts receiving more traffic i think i will just stick with it, because i can't stand all the crap i receive from craigslist.

I checked this out, and thought it looked a REALLY good site!!

I'm looking for a clone of it, and am thinking os starting one up myself?

    I found a clone here:-

    http://www.siteclonez.com/products.php?product=Ilist-Classifieds#

But not sure HOW good it is? The website is a bit dodgy, and the photo is also.

Will keep looking I think, or might make the owner an offer!!

While there may be alternatives to CL, I don't think anyone suggested moving away from there....just maybe consider iList as another opportunity?

iList recently improved itself by having an inbuilt "tweet this" in your auctions. iList is only new, web 2.0 properties take years to catch on. Craigslist was started in 1997.
