    Disable Text Selection:
If your blog has text content any one can easily select copy & paste it on their website. Below link will help you

    Code:
    http://www.dynamicdrive.com/dynamicindex9/noselect.htm
    Disable Right Click Function:
If there is text then it is obvious that he/she may have to use the right click function. Check the below link:

    Code:
    http://www.dynamicdrive.com/dynamicindex9/noright.htm
    Google Authorship:
This is very important. By having this Google & DMCA will know who is the actual owner of the content.

    Code:
    https://plus.google.com/authorship
    Plagiarism Tools:
Copyscape, Plagiarism Duplichker and PlagSpotter are the most popular tools. Check once every week or month if someone is using your content. If you find anyone using your content we can easily complain to DMCA or you can send them a notice. Below link will provide you few samples:

    Code:
    http://stolen.wordpress.com/
Above steps are more than enough to make sure that your content does not get copied. But, Inspite of doing all the above if your content is getting copied then you need not worry as the stealer will not benefit in terms of ranking in Google (Thanks to Google Authorship).

This is one of the worst things you can do for usability and just calls for pissed visitors to leave your site. Not to even mention that you can just click 'show source' in browser and still copy/paste any text. Don't do this.

    View source---> Copy article--> Paste :)

2nd method When right click is blocked if you RIGHT CLICK then hit Space bar almost immediately it will allow you to copy 50-60% of the time.

I do like this thread tho as it's meant to be positive and help with copyright issues. :)

I completely agree with this. No legit site will have right click disabled and you're going to end up losing a lot of returning visitors. Most scrapers copy from the source code directly anyway.

I think google authorship is probably the best tool. No offences but if people can't copy or scrape any of your content you won't get any natural links or auto re blogging sites backlinks. Also copying content is no problem now a days with Google authorship

Fantastic share mate! Have been using some of them but the other new ones are really amazing methods and time to implement them as well.

    Your Welcome :)

I was not aware of this. Thanks for letting me know. I shall change the post accordingly.

That is the reason why I have even mentioned Google Authorship.

    I am happy it helped.

This trick will handle less tech based visitors and they wont be able to copy the content. So if your blog
is not on tech niche than this will be handy to the certain point.

If the visitors (stealer) want to copy your contents than they need to do extra steps.

With that I think you should add your internal links in every post so that whenever if
any visitor copy your contents from source code than they need to remove your links
too than means more extra work to them. If they do not remove those internal page
links that means you will get backlinks from them too :)

    I vote for it

Can you go more in depth on this? I had never heard this before but would like to know more. I kind of assumed most people don't really use the right click functionality except to steal content. I use it to inspect element/view source but that's in a professional capacity and different than the average user. Admittedly, copying content may not always be to steal it and put it up on a different website but to quote/reference a good point you made. But how much does this really affect usability?

to be honest with you, I appreciate you sharing this but I don't really care if someone copies my content. After all I use other peoples content to get ideas for my own writing so why wouldn't I let someone use mine to do the same?

This will also stop 85% of your traffic from linking to your site, bad move.

You are a nice fellow my friend so you copy the contents simply to get an idea but there
are many other people who copy the whole contents and post on web 2.0, build some links and
start ranking and link to their money sites.

Normal internet users simply consume the information and move on.

85% ... may I know your source details of such info ...

These % vary from website to website my friend.

    Agree with you :)

General readers do not care about whether contents can be copied or not. They read and move on. So I think this is a nice move

I noticed many good ranking sites and found that they are using this trick.

If anyone wants to copy content they will make sure that your internal links are removed Or if they are using any sort of bots for this purpose then even the bot will remove all the links. By any chance if this does not happen then the quality of the link passing to your site will be low as it is copied content.

May I know what is making U tell this ?

It is true that certain group of people use the content as reference. In that case make sure you have Google Authorship which solves all your problem.

Can you tell me how you can surely tel 85% of the traffic is lost ?
