well, i used to have my main project, but i can't continue with it until i implement my idea, like really i have high expectations, i never gave up and i'm not planning to, so in order to continue with my porject i have to hire a developer, so yeah i'm raising money to hire someone.

So i dived into freelancing and i've been making informative videos for this guy (5-6 min), he provides me content and i edit it, add subtitles, animations & stuff, it takes me 3 days to create 2 videos and i'm getting 15$ per video, but i feel like i'm being extremely used, creating a similar video takes me a minimum of 9 hours, i'm not the best in what i'm doing but i deliver quality, today i just finished the most detailed video i've ever done. http://imgur.com/a/iBglo

like is it really worth, i'm forcing my self to finish every video and i eventually do, thanks to this song:

can i invest my time in something better?

Working for $10/day is average if you live in India. But you seem to be living in Finland, where the average is almost 10x that. So obviously, if you want to survive, no it's not worth it. If you want to die, or that you feel like this experience is beneficial for you to progress and don't really care about the money (which you seem to do) then continue on.

$15 per video of 5-6 minutes? I got paid $1000 for a 3 minute movie and I've made 3 movies in my entire life, 2 of which I never edited, thus making it 1 movie that I've edited in my entire life - which was the one I got paid for. Ask for more man! :)

You should definitely be asking for more $$$ for the work you are providing. Quality doesn't come cheap.

My suggestion might seem difficult, but what if you continue creating videos for the current guy while you're out looking for someone who pays more for each video?

The other option is to ask the current guy for a bit more cash for each video.

Doesn't matter. Say something along the lines of: "Hey, I work very hard on these videos and I think i deserve more for what I put in. I'd like to ask for a $x raise." If he says no, just tell him good luck with finding another person who can provide the same quality for you.

Through my experience i learned that you always have to stand up for yourself. He probably knows he is underpaying you but obviously wont do anything until you speak up

The person is using you for sure. Video editing is one of the jobs that are very involving. You better talk to the person or look for alternatives. I do write like 10 articles a day and I get paid $15 for each. Sometimes when you are not well rewarded, you will not be able to get the motivation to deliver quality work.

You know, perhaps when you have enough money, you should consider purchasing a Jr. VIP membership and opening up a video editing BST.

maybe, i just want to resume my main project asap, i wont give up on that, and video editing may become a place for a secondary income.

You're setting yourself up for failure by competing with trash from India, Pakistan etc that are always going to be able to give clients a lower price than you. I recommend getting clients locally (can be online, but look for Finnish clients) or looking for international clients in places that aren't crowded with cheap third world competition. Where that could be I can't tell you though.

You will never earn enough to hire a developer making $10 a day. So your current situation will not move you along with your plan. You need to find another way to do it, but getting paid $15 for a video that takes you 9 hours to produce is not going to get you anywhere. If you don't desperately need the $10 to live, your time will be better used trying to find or build a better income, instead of occupying all of your time for next to nothing. You are currently making less than $2 an hour! Ask the guy to double your payment and if it doesn't work for him, leave him. Opening a BST might be a good idea, but make sure that you are not having trouble with the videos because of lack of skills. Maybe there are people that could do the same amount of work for 2 hours and that would make the $15 per video a different story.

I think you should move on from Korpiklaani to older Children Of Bodom and aim for higher paying clients.

A long time ago, a friend of mine gave me a very valuable piece of advice when I felt I was being taken advantage of by someone close to me. She said:

If you feel you are being used, then you are.

Tell your "boss" a sudden family matter has come up and you are no longer available after today.

Well there is always a time in ones life that change happens, but I feel you don't need to force it.

Let it come naturally. I tell you there are several people who wish to make what you are making now.

For me, take your time, do enough research, get other methods, try them, make sure you stabilize before you venture into them.
