Are you for or against donations to youtubers and streamers?
These days on my country there is a HUGE flame about this topic.

A lot of people here says that youtubers/streamers shouldn't accept donations because they are already earning a lot of money by ads. They also suggest them to find a real job useful to the society.

Also a HUGE numbers of kids/teenagers are against donations to youtubers/streamer. A lot of them says it's not fair that guys doing nothing but sit down on a chair earn more than their parents that works all the day no stop.

Other people says it's not fair that people without degree earn more than doctors and they are also begging for money.

What do you think about it?

Well if someone else wants to give them money I don't see the issue.. That's why it is called donating. Shouldn't matter to others how they make their money so long as they aren't hurting other people.

If you are against it, just don't donate; if you want to put your money in youtubers/streamers' pockets, so be it.

Who gives a f*ck what some plebs are bitching about. How about instead of bitching about people making money they start doing stuff like youtube or other money making activities in their spare time.

Ad revenue is not that great considering the views they are bringing in. It used to be better a few years ago before YouTube made changes.

It's harder than 'sitting in a chair'. Content creation is hard work, as we all learn when we get into marketing.

That being said, if you don't think they deserve an extra donation don't give them any. You can use ad blockers to skip the ads too.

If other people think what they create is of value then those people will pay.

You shouldn't donate to youtubers because you'll only encourage the mindset of 'making money off youtube videos' among youtubers, hence more and more people will get into the business just for its' money.

No it aint. I remember youtube were once for people making covers and even social purposes. Do you see every youtube videos that has an insane amount of views on it, being monetized? No. So there is your answer. Not everyone on youtube is for the money, sometimes it's for their hobby.

You kids nowadays are so brainwashed, when youtube was founded, you guys aint even born yet.

You can make a profit and a good profit with a hobby, you don't need to incur losses to do a hobby.

I love how some people are against the topic just because the YouTuber makes more in a day than they make in a month. But if they were the ones banking off doing so little, they would be all for it.

And your source is? Or you've just pulled that out from thin air/your ass crack?

But I do agree, youtuber earns probably more than any person/persons trying to bug people, and beg people to buy their instagram account. To me, that just sound absolutely low class and desperate. You wouldn't happen to do that would you?

If someone puts in the effort to entertain someone with a legitimate interest in a subject, who am I to point fingers at them for donating money.

I tip waiters and delivery drivers, does that make me a bad person?

Sometimes when asked by big issue sellers I'll say I paid for one last week, other times I'll give them a few quid, does that make me a bad person.

If I want to donate money, others should mind their business. And I have no issues with people donating.

This is a stupid thread. If people want to give money to youtubers, its their choice isn't it? Just like how it's your choice to do extreme sports, smoke weed etc etc

    lol...

I feel like this is a very poor attempt at taking shots at me. I'm going to assume you were talking about selling instagram accounts since I recently asked advice about using paypal when selling instagram accounts. Not sure where you got the idea that I "bug and beg people to buy my instagram accounts" since I was simply asking for advice with the payment method in that thread and had already sold the account when I made that thread lmao. Please do your research next time.

Anyway welcome to BHW man :)

To be honest I think the same. Once I said the same things to a random guy against donations. Guess what he said? He said that donate money to youtubers/streamers is immoral and if I have money to donate then I should donate to those who really need money and not for enrich peoples already rich.

Today the flame carry on. I read a comment from a guy that made me laugh. I'll try to translate his message

The flame started few times ago. A crowd of quite popular youtubers (youtubers with an average of 30k-50k subscribers) started to talk about their high earning to their followers. Then they started to malign all the most popular youtubers (those with 1,000,000+ subsribers) that allow donation saying they are already earning a lot of money. They also said those big youtubers should be obstructed because they do just mainstream things.

The flame started here. And became huge when one of those big youtuber (that allow donations) made a video where he drive his Lamborghini saying that guys are just envying him. That video screwed himself (he lost a lot of subscribers) and people started yelling at big youtubers and all of youtubers/streamers that allow donations

Donations are optional and getting bent out of shape because someone accepts them is ridiculous. Why should anyone care about how someone else is spending their money? Would they be so high and mighty if they were the ones receiving donations? Doubt it.

If is a particularly good youtuber that i enjoy watching i'll consider donating.

I usually watch car videos and especially channels like "gears and gasoline" who make quality videos and have a real passion for what they do, i feel like they do deserve donations to help pay for it.
