I've noticed that lately, the MODS have had quite a few tasks on their hands such as removing fake reviews and tracking down and suspending services from non Jr. VIP members. I've had a little bit of free time so I figured, why not lend a helping hand? All of the following threads are in the "SEO-Link Building" section. I started on the very last page so all of the threads are old but I'm going to go through 3-5 pages per day in this section starting from the oldest. I will update this thread for the MODS daily with the threads that need action taken.

    Hopes this helps!

As you said those are old, like really old from 2008/9 and no new posts. Not much sense in going so far back as you are probably the only person even looking at those.

Yes but that's where it starts, if you want a section that is fully cleaned then it's best to start from the oldest threads and move forward.

Yes, as mentioned, I know these are "old" threads but I'm going to start from the back and move forward. There are only 74 pages so it'll only take about a week to go through "every" thread. It will definitely help to clean up the section. I'd guess to say that up to 30% of threads are inactive and need to be suspended/deleted.

Not sure deleting any threads is a good idea, i mean they bring in traffic, so deleting them may be counter productive. Adding a message at the the very top would possibly be better.

Maybe add a graveyard section and move them all there too

Thanks, saving time is the whole idea here!

Actually, deleting them is a good thing for more then one reason alone:

    1. New visitors coming from search engines to BHW on a thread that hasn't been posted on in 6 years would make a first time visitor believe they're on an inactive forum and could result in a possible loss of a new sign-up/member for BHW

    2. Even regulars don't want to see these old threads in the market place, while they are old and in the back of all the new threads, threads that are inactive/closed don't need to clog up the marketplace section(s). If it can't be used and the service is closed, get rid of it, it's not going to have activity or sales so there's no need for it in the market place.

    3. Whether it be active/inactive threads or sellers who aren't JR. VIP, no member(s) should be allowed free exposure in the market place. Even if closed or inactive, users can see their service and the member could potentially make a sales. If it's inactive/closed, DELETE it.

There's enough breaks given, JR. VIP membership is only $97 (They should charge $1,000) and creating a market place thread is $30, give me a break. They should be charging sellers $25 per month "per" sales thread.

Perhaps I should add a poll?

Given the benefits, perks and additional features that become available to those who are a JR. VIP member, you don't feel that's it's worth more then $97?

It doesn't matter what I think it's worth. What matters is how many people are willing to pay the fee and contribute in some way. Less people = less value. It also means less vendors in the marketplace. What would happen if they raised it to $1,000 and then only 15 people had Jr Vip subscriptions? What would keep them paying that fee? Probably only to sell in the marketplace. The whole marketplace economy would change. Less vendors would mean the prices for services could skyrocket. Only those with the ability to put $1,000 or more down upfront could afford to sell there.

Then we have advertising. As you can see from the banners on this website a decent amount of advertisers here are service providers. That would take a hit.

The forum in the end would lose a lot of money. The users would be charged more for services and probably look elsewhere.

There's like 3 people on the whole site who could afford a $1000 yearly fee.

I respect your views & opinions and most aspects of your response I would agree with. I appreciate your insight. I didn't mean it in such a literal sense, the point I was attempting to make is that for the amount of value that is provided here that the fee(s) for upgrading & selling here are low.

I believe 99% of the users here would agree on that but when I said "$1,000", it was an exaggeration. By no means would I see such a fee permittable.

Fascinating thread. Of course for this to be proper a mod would subsequently have to follow-up by visiting each thread referenced - make a fair determination of the validity or lack thereof of the thread, and ultimately close or delete the thread. So, essentially a mod has to repeat the work OP invested in order to perform a function that is unlikely to be performed anyway ... specifically deleting thread. In my opinion threads are unlikely to be deleted unless they blatantly violate forum rules, and there are a ton of self-serving (BHW) reasons for this.

This isn't going to happen in my opinion due to the advertising revenue presented to the board from even outdated, useless, or otherwise inactive threads. I feel as though OP is performing a quasi-mod function, and we don't have or want quasi-mods here. Let the mods do their own jobs, and stop trying to curry favor with them in this way.

Just my opinion of course, and I do see BigBuddy thanked you above OP, so certainly I respect his opinion over my own! I just hope mods don't decide to blindly follow the recommendations of a "Regular" forum member. It does seem clear OPs intentions are pure, but I just don't feel right about it at all.

    .02 delivered.

Well of course MODS are still required to do "some" work as they'd have to go through each of the threads to verify it needs to be moved or suspended due to non payment of the Jr. VIP Membership from marketplace sellers. In terms of "wanting to gain favor", this is far from the truth, my will to go through the threads to "assist" the MODS is simply a gesture of good will and a donation of my time.

So you want to close peoples BST after they paid $97 for JrVIP and $30 for the thread because they didn't renew the subscription for their JrVIP? I doubt this will ever happen since it would be highly unfair.

Read the requirements in the Marketplace.

One of the main requirements is that you must BE a Jr. VIP to sell in our marketplace.
It doesn't matter if you WERE a Jr. VIP. You must maintain your Jr. VIP status.
