because i'm working 15 hour days managing cross site projects and its killing me.
BHW is the only time i get to relax and talk about the things i actually enjoy. I have a few hours at the weekend though which i do devote to my skills and craft (of which IM is
), however most of the time during the week i can't.
Shame really as none of my current projects are blossoming enough to outsource and i really wish i had more time to work them so i could.
kick in the teeth!
ps - gtfokthx, most people are kinesthetic learners, and learn from doing. Reading is apart of it, but only hands on practical experiernce can make things "click". trust me.
I'll give you some serious maths to do (think asymtopical calculus crossed with none determininstic finite state automata), then give you an exam. get your mark, give you some examples to work though and show you how they work, then give you a different exam which is just as hard.
Which one would you do better in? i think you know it'll be the second one, and you know why too.

I agree. I spent a couple weeks on this forum just reading as much of the information i could before i even made my 1st post.

My advice to anyone who is new to working on their own is to determine how much they need to "earn" each day. The way that they should calculate that is to determine how much they need to make each month, divided by 30, and multiplied by 2 (to offset fluctuations).
Once a person has this daily goal, they should change the wallpaper on their computer to have the question "Have you made your $xxx today yet?"
This will serve as a constant reminder to earn. Once the daily goal is met, then you can either keep going (if you feel good doing whatever you are doing), or you can take a break, and research more methods, catch up on your favorite TV shows, or whatever floats your boat.

By the way, if you're reading this you have knowledge. you're here reading this thread here now, and you're here for a reason.
You have the knowledge, you just need to apply it. People don't realise it and they don't benefit because of it.
I could of easily re-hashed another silly method on here and posted it and loadd of people would of said thanks, but i didn't want that, because i know not alot of people would even bother. say 2, maybe 3 max?
However, if people want to act, and they can be inspired, they are much more likely to take action. And that is why i posted this thread.
&& Matt - couldn't agree more. having the remind there really helps. I have post-it notes everywhere with little things like "do more backlinks" or "find more writers" and silly trivial things like "if i worked more on wednesday, how much better would next week be?" etc.
Definately helps keep me on the ball!

Reading and learning is good, but there comes a point when you have to just start trying things. I lurked here for awhile while I was trying some WH stuff that took me forever to start because I was reading too much about that, then one day it dawned on me to stop friggin' reading and put some of this knowledge to use and tweak it to meet your needs. I don't make a living off this yet, but I am making some nice pocket change now. I still read posts on BHW and continue to try and increase my knowledge or learn a tip here and there, but this is limited to my idle time.

I know that you can't go without knowing but seriously, how many people do we know that talk big and great about something but never do it, i.e., (fat people pushing diets, football wannabe's that know the game but have never played):second: Actually doing and doing it over and over is tough especially if you fail at it the first, second or however many times it takes. It makes perfect sense if you're what jammie describes.
This describes me perfectly. However, recently I've started taking action. BHW is slowly becoming more of a toolbox for me, like for proxies or software since I've prettymuch read every money making thread on here.
Hey I've recently been finally getting out of that horrible mode. And once I start taking massive action, I'm gonna get dangerous :yield:
By the way, this is one of the most powerful posts on here, even though I've known it forever.

to be honest i never got why people said stop reading etc. until one day ...
I was sat being bored to death with UML & EER diagrams, when my mind started to wonder. i ended up thinking about blogs, how to SEO them, promote them, outsource work and do keyword research etc.
About half an hour later, i'd learned no UML or EER, but i'd developed a whole blueprint for a network of blogs, done a budget and cost analysis, wrote in detail every SEO method i knew and how to apply them to it, had a list of software which i could help promote it with, web 2.0 & SMB sites to submit to etc.
i ended up with 4 pages of actions to do, and i still have them infront of me ... mainly because i didn't realise how hard it'd be to do half of the stuff i wanted to, but also because its absolute gold & i always refer back to it.
Before then i always came here for my "fix" of the next thing to make money etc. but the truth is it doesn't exist and we have to do it the hard way.

jammie is correct on this especially with this forum as you can get stuck reading and downloading everything known to man i was like this for my first 2 months. Then a light switches and you realise you have just wasted 60 days reading stuff and you have failed to apply anything. Pick three area max to focus on and work the best you can. Work hard enough you will start making money even if its only $1 per day once you get the no how the only way is usually up.
