A few words of encouragement.. I know how frustrating it can be to pour hours of your time into a task, and then not get the results you worked for. For many of us, it seems that every time a door opens, another one slams shut in our face. When I first began, I figured I'd be making money in no time. Well, that was 4 years ago, and only last year did I actually start earning a solid profit online. It was a tough road. Filled with ups, downs, small success and even bigger failure. At times the depression would almost cripple me to the point of giving up for good. One day, I friend of mine said something to me that really brought home the idea of what we are all striving to accomplish here. I had failed yet again on some worthless campaign, and in the midst of quitting all together, a good buddy of mine reminded me of the fact that what people like you and I are doing here, is something most people couldn't dream of. It takes a huge knowledge of computers, web design, marketing, SEO, networking, product selling, and so on, to make it in this game. And although you may fail, just remember that most people work for years to reach the point of knowledge and skill you and I have now. You've got something here that has the potential to make more money than most college grads make in a lifetime. Don't forget how lucky you are to have the skill-set many people only wish they could. Take each failure and keep on pushing. I am now making a solid full-time income online, all thanks to hard work and determination. That's all it takes. So whenever your sitting there contemplating the horrible act of quitting.. Just remember the exceptional skills and power you have to make all of your financial dreams a reality, all in a very short period of time.
Thanks for that always good to get a bit of encouragement every now and then Posted via Mobile Device
That was inspirational! That sounds exactly like my life story, I've spent roughly 4 years trying over 10 different major projects. I've spent 10's of thousands of dollars experimenting with new companies, marketing for other companies, and other side projects. It took me 2 years to make any return on my investments but the success was very small. Now I have been slowly building on a website that has started to see some form of success but I'm still far away from reaching my goals. I've considered giving up several times but every time I stay in the game longer, I inch towards my end goal. Hopefully other internet marketers can find the power to stay in the game until they have achieved what they wanted. Cheers!
Even if you don't have knowledge in the coding areas like those, if you dedicate yourself, you can pick up the knowledge and even teach yourself some. Just like the other areas he listed.
good bit of encouragement here... I too am spending money and time on making things work, but some are and some are not. I too agree that all of us here have a great skill set that others only wish they have. I tell myself that, while working my day job, and continue to push push push..
Sounds just like me. Even though I have been a member for almost 3 years now. I dont do IM. I am just a web designer and SEO guy. But it is very hard to compete these days so Just as a designer I am struggling to keep the family fed and the bills paid. I tried my hand at IM but didnt make a dime. So guess I will just keep hustling every day for the projects I do get. and believe me, I hustle, sometimes 18 hrs a day on here looking for work and applying for design and SEO work, But again, Who would hire me to do it right when they can hire someone else that does it wrong for 1/2 my fees.... I will say though. BHW gives me 90% of my work, so I am very thankful for that.
Hey there, Thanks for a real encouraging post. I spent about 2.5 years just thinking about doing it and have been actually doing since about 2 years now. Like you I have had limited success, but unlike you I have not yet unlocked the system that will make me independant. I also had the advantage of having an IT background and now for all my skills and experience, I have not managed to turn it into solid cashflow. In fact I'm worse off now than when I first started and feel like I'm stuck in a rutt. But I'm not giving up, in fact I'm starting to have more success doing the offline consulting of local businesses. This is not my ideal, but its better than nothing, also I might have a speaking engagement coming up, where I will have to introduce a room full of female entrepreneurs to the finer points of online marketing. I will make a video out of it to promote myself !!! BHW ROCKS!!! Greetings, Dave
Even though this might be another rehash of the motivational thread about not giving up...it somehow spoke to me and made me even more dedicated to what I'm doing. Thanks given, and I hardly ever give out thanks.
I cant stand it man I get in Google between pages 1 and 10 with stuff via video sites relating to blog with affiliate banners and get zilch. WHY? This is th only way I found how to get into Google within a week via video sites so Im sticking to it I cant dont have the brain patience to do all that fancy SEO stuff but STILL I get in Google
Awesome post. This post make me remember the original post from Diamond Dave where he wrote Never ever give up! Many thanks to xplicit for sharing his personal experience.
So long as you keep on trying: there is no such thing as failure, only progress. For whenever you seem to have "failed", you are one step closer to success. Some people just "succeed" faster than others..
Xplicit is good He dont know it but he made me a few vids in another life I recommend him for custom work
Probably the greatest person to look for for inspiration in our industry is a man who I only wish I had the pleasure of meeting: Thomas Edison Here are a few things he said that apply 100% to Internet Marketing (and even other things): Nearly every man who develops an idea works it up to the point where it looks impossible, and then he gets discouraged. That's not the place to become discouraged. Opportunity is missed by most people because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work. Our greatest weakness lies in giving up. The most certain way to succeed is always to try just one more time. Restlessness is discontent and discontent is the first necessity of progress. Show me a thoroughly satisfied man and I will show you a failure. There's a way to do it better - find it. To have a great idea, have a lot of them. We don't know a millionth of one percent about anything. Being busy does not always mean real work. The object of all work is production or accomplishment and to either of these ends there must be forethought, system, planning, intelligence, and honest purpose, as well as perspiration. Seeming to do is not doing. Discontent is the first necessity of progress. Hell, there are no rules here - we're trying to accomplish something. His genius he was quite content in one brief sentence to define; Of inspiration one percent, of perspiration, ninety nine. I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work. I look to these quotes, usually just 1 at a time, not only when I'm in need of inspiration, but when I'm in need of motivation. Motivation is probably the problem for most of us anyways.
Since we're encouraging one another I kinda of like this quote: If you have built castles in the air, your work need not be lost. That is where they should be. Now put foundations under them. — Henry David Thoreau
