Followliker: the order in which followers are listed on Instagram has changed?

Hello everyone, I am new. I have signed up after an internet search trying to figure out what happened to Instagram in the last week, few months after the new feed algorithm was implemented.

I've done a search here and could not find a recent thread about this, so I decided to post one myself. I'll explain: when I view any user's follower list on Instagram now, it is clear that it is no longer in reverse chronological order like it used to be. The most popular accounts come first now, although not exactly ordered by popularity/followers. I don't know if they're ordered according to which I am supposed to have more ties with, or what.

The problem is, Follow Liker has become useless. I used to scrape the top result, get my 1000/2000 users, like their pics over the course of a day and get 100/200 followers a day, which I was content with. Now, the followers I scrape are only popular accounts and/or women (I get the greatest following from interacting with men but I seem to be able to scrape only women, perhaps 'cause they are more popular on IG).

I tried to deselect the "scrape only top result" option, hoping to end up with a random selection, but it does not change. Follow Liker still likes the pics the way it should, but I don't even get 20 followers a day now, cause the scraped users are wrong to begin with.

Also, I noticed that the software now scrapes less users than it used to, whichever option I select it no longer reaches the number of users to scrape that I enter, and it started having this problem a week ago, exactly when Instagram seems to have implemented this new follower list arrangement.

So, scraping ALL the followers of an account and then deleting the first few pages to end up with the less popular users that were at the end of the list is not an option either. 'Cause Follow Liker won't scrape more than about 1500 users whatever I tell it to do.

Does anyone else have/have solved the same problem?

This is an update from about a week ago regarding the private API. They changed the type of tokens returned for each page. And if your account gets flagged, Instagram will NOT return a next_page token so you can't scrape more of a specific user. In my opinion, if you are having this issue, Instagram has flagged you and they know you're using a bot. I've tested with fresh accounts and scraping works fine (all users). Flagged accounts couldn't scrape more than ~2k or something like that.

I did these tests on my scraper, that I own. Not related to FL whatsoever.

I see, thank you for your reply. I do not mind not being able to scrape more than 2k actually, I never scraped more per session in any case. What I see as the main problem is this different arrangement of the list that puts the most popular accounts on top, but I assume this is also an effect of the same update?

Either way, thank you for letting me know about the "flag" thing. Sounds like there isn't much I can do about it.

Pretty sure the order has to do with the flag as well. If you're not flagged you can see the followers normally.

I've been seeing this issue, too. However, when I go manually look at followers on either the app or the web site, I see a random list like I would expect. I don't see the most popular.

Isn't FL using a private API to scrape users? I'm facing the same problem with few accounts

Are you saying that you want to scrape unpopular instagram accounts?

How would the account get flag? So if it gets flag, you can't scrape anymore?

She wants to scrape most recent followers of a user, not the most popular/random followers as it is working since the API change/flag

    Help

Dude, THIS. Same thing with massplanner (not mp2 fault, but API change), How do you solve this?
Even if i set it to only follow people between 0-2000 followers and followings, it can't find users anymore in that range, even though i can see it easily when i check manually. I see the most recent followers in both my browser and the imbedded version on MP2.

Am i flagged? Is my account fucked?

Have you tried setting Followliker to scrape more users per task and using the Follower limit (say 0 to 1K) to weed out "popular" accounts?

Just throwing it out there. I don't have to deal with this problem since I scrape users by location and that still uses the "Most Recent" order.

Yes, basically. Accounts with less than a thousand followers. Or like @davidmc007 said, the most recent ones as those are more likely to be still active on IG. Even a random selection would be better than the one I get anyway, popular accounts obviously tend not to look at/respond to interaction.

Thank you, I will try tonight and report back.

Should it not work I will try to scrape people who tagged certain things or liked certain pics instead (though the latter is a pain since many pic URLs have to be entered manually to obtain a decent number of users) and see if that results in a better selection or not.

Will keep you guys posted since it looks like I'm not the only one having this issue.

I think @KenTZ is right. You're just going to have to scrape more users & set the follower / following parameters to suit your tastes. Likewise, why not only like or follow users that have posted within the past x # of days?

If you're scraping from more sources & using pinpoint parameters, it seems like you could still get fairly active users.

Can I ask what exact query you're using for location? Thanks in advance and sorry to go off topic

I meant query format e.g "FLC: Chicago, IL, USA > Normal Search" or "New York, New York > Location"
