Follow one specific users follower at a time, good or bad?

I want to recruit followers within my niche and I wonder if it is a good idea to follow one specific users follower at a time, til they run out, and then go one to only following another users followers, and then on to the next and so on. To never follow two different users followers at the same time.

Will I run into problems If I only follow one specific users follower at a time, like if IG will be more prone to flag me or something?

The reason I want to do this is:
- Gives me better feedback regarding which users followers actually give me a good followback rate
- Easier to manually unfollow pending requests as I also follow private users.

i have seen that you follow with this method many users which are not active any more so the follow back is quite low ....

Your method is good but also make sure to follow active accounts and those that are not private

Actually one of the reasons I use this method is because it allows me to follow private users. I can keep track of my pending requests well and manually unfollow those ones.
