Follow My Journal on Building a HQ Email List

Hi all!

Old time BHW user here.

About me:
I have been doing IM for more or less successfully for almost 7 years now. I think I have made around early $XXXXX during those years which is not bad in of itself but all my methods were built on systems that were bound to not be stable and under my control (IG, Twitter, blackhat SEO etc).

Why this thread?
Because I need to keep myself in check. I have had like 3 or more journey threads before and they were all abandoned soon because I gave up too early.

Will this time be different?
That's what we are here to find out - my goal has always been to build a quality email list to promote affiliate offers to and maybe one day my own offers too. I'm a lot wiser than I was before as well - I have now learned about the importance of not depending on one source of traffic, the importance of providing a quality "product" and the importance of tracking. Also, with this email list I will be building an asset - it's mine and mine alone - no IG, Twitter, G wipe can destroy my business overnight. If Getresponse should ban me then I will just import my list to another provider and continue business.

What is my plan/goal?

• Build a HQ email list that I can make a stable living out of (work only for myself n' shit).
• In the future (or maybe sooner, depends) create a website/blog to that email list and eventually develop a brand.
• To practice coitus and acquire currency.

Nice shit, now, how am I gonna do it?
I will be using several traffic sources. On the top of my head I had the following on my mind:

• YouTube (videos, comments).
• Reddit (topics, comments).
• Forums (probably mostly signature and maybe comments/threads if I can do it).
• Quora (answers but maybe also asking myself and then answering, dunno yet).
• Maybe other platforms like Twitter, IG - if I build my own website then SEO far in the future.

How often will I update this journal?
I don't want to say something unrealistic like "every day" or smth but I will try to update it several times/week.

How much will I work on this project?
It depends how much work I have to do on my day job but I think around 3h/day is manageable.

Sounds cool, anything else?
I haven't seen almost any email list building journeys here on BHW during the past 7 years I have been member of this site. I have seen SOME, the most famous being the 40k/month thread that was a great inspiration and source of knowledge. Other than that there are only maybe one handful of journeys I can remember so i hope I can add to those few threads a new successful one.

This project has been a dream of mine for many years and thus I have already created some assets.

I have already done the following things:

• Gotten a decent PLR ebook that I have edited to look sharper (will have to edit further a bit) to give away for visitors email.
• Set up landing page, made it mobile responsive, created confirm email and thank you pages as well.
• Set up tracking for the landing page (I use Matomo, formerly known as Piwik).
• Created an account in Getresponse
• Created first couple of emails (will have to edit a bit)

What are the next steps?

• Pick 3-4 products from Clickbank to promote. There is tons of crap out there and as I am very knowledgeable about the topic I have to really be picky with the products. This will be quite a long process as I want to get hold of the products I want to promote so it will take time.
• Edit my freebie (PLR ebook) and insert affiliate links to selected products in the ebook.
• Set up tracking URL-s for the products inside the ebook (tracking IS important)
• Rewrite the first couple of emails to get going
• TEST the emails inboxing (I can't describe how much this part has frustrated me in the past - even if the email is not spammy at all it stills finds its way to spam boxes in Hotmail).

So, quite a list but an actionable one. This should take me quite some time - maybe weeks. The longest being selecting the projects.

Haven't managed to do that much during this week but I searched 7 products I believe to be having potential and sent an email asking for review copies. 1 out of 7 answered and sent me the ebook, 2 or so sent me kinda auotmated answers but it has been only a few days - maybe others will reply later.

I read the one book I got and I think it's pretty decent - I would have not put as much importance on couple of chapters the author had in his book but the points he made in those chapters aren't wrong - they are just not that important imo. Overall it's a solid book explaining the same core principles I believe in from another angle. The book also had strong and not too salesy (imo) references to members are where (I assume) the recurring income lies.

I will write some emails for promoting this product and edit my own free ebook by adding links to this product.

I have not seen any facebook ads you mentioned for driving traffic. Incorporate fb ads with chatbot is another way to get HQ email.

I have not mentioned facebook ads. I am trying to drive free traffic - facebook ads might come into play when I'm already earning enough so that I have money to pay for leads but for that I need to know the lifetime value of my lead.
